Default suggestion to cite

i was looking for ls7 lifter and been going to each of the sponsors to find the best deal.. and i got to thinking it would be nice'er if there was a spot on here where there is a list of parts and the sponsors could all post there prices.. that would make the sponsors be more competetive with prices maybe i dont no ?

or maybe do something like pricewatch.com does...

1. Please do not post threads asking for our vendors to match vendor XYZ's pricing that you found on the net. Pick up the phone and call them.

2. Please do not post any "who can get me this for the cheapest" type threads. Shop around on those webpages. Make some calls.

3. If you are interested in a Group Purchase, you can make a post to see if other members are interested, but leave pricing out of the thread. Let the vendor establish the pricing if they wish to participate. Please post these requests in the sub-forum found within this particular forum, specifically for requests

See those pretty banners on the side of the site --> Please use them to shop around and compare prices, before doing any of the above. Realize that most shops get annoyed with threads like the ones above, and are probably not going to answer them. You could be missing out on a better deal elsewhere if you do not take the time to shop first.

Thanks.
It would almost be impossible.

I'm not trying to say you did it, I'm just trying to show you that they seem to be against a system like that. It would cause competitors to have to fiercely compete with each other, it would be a mess.

Think about that for a second...

There are sponsors with literally $1M+ worth of inventory.
Think of how many individual part numbers that is (thousands).
Think about how often pricing changes. Someone would have to
continually monitor pricing for each sponsor here at LS1Tech.
That would be a full time position just to do that.

Now multiply that by the hundreds of sponsors we have.
You're going to get a thread or a forum with 100,000 parts.
Good luck searching through that.

We really do appreciate all input & suggestions. I just don't think this
one is feasible.

ya i can see how that can be a problem...

that y i was also maybe thinking something like pricewatch.com where user post the most aggressive price they find... that way the sponsors would be out of the loop.. and it would be just what ever the members finds a good deal on in there (opinion)

It's not that difficult to do it automated actually, you can just use RSS feeds. The only catch is each sponsor site would have to support it.

Most sponsors price match any way. Pick the one that has what you need and charges less for shipping and go with them.
Even manufacturers that sell their own stuff can be higher than sponsors.

Sounds like a pretty big catch to me.

I think this idea, while conceptually well intentioned, isn't going to happen. The sponsors will LOSE MONEY if they don't carry the lowest price. I see this going nowhere.
