Default Should I lower my Trans Am?

Im directing this question towards LA/Orange County drivers. How has your experience been with lowering springs? Is there excessive scraping or is about the same as stock? My shocks will go on soon and I need to decide whether to stay with stock springs or get a set of Eibachs.

I would say do Strano springs not Eibach's. And it will probably scrape. I scraped mine all the time when it was lowered the. front end is so long. But then again I'm not in Ca.

You will still scrap from time to time, but its not nearly as much as the eibachs.. I would totally suggest them, IMO its low enough to look good and high enough to clear alot of things.

You can always cut the springs and go that route if they still are in good shape... I have a few friends that have done it and you cant tell the difference.

Also the eibachs' sag in the rear. If you are doing it just for looks you could put the front ones in and take the spacer off the top of the rear spring and just put a pieceof heater hose on the top loop of spring.

You will scrape alot with the Eibachs if they are anything like mine were, after going to stranos with a 4" exhaust I hit on really tall speed bumps but thats it.The stranos are about a 1.2" drop so with a 1" you should be ok.

I got Eibach springs on mine, its low rides like ****, and it scrapes on stuff too, but DAMN does it look good. I will never take them off, BUT my car is a weekend car and I drive it maybe once every other weekend if that.

If its a dd I would'nt lower it, but if its a weekend car I say do it. BTW dont cut your springs, springs are designed with certain spring rate when you cut them you are tampering with the design and you will have a **** for ride and possibly less handling, just my 2 cents.

i think since the Bilstein/Eibach was an option on the SS it wont be ridiculous since it was a factory option

They look good too, I've seen a few cars with that kit but I just wanted mine just a little lower, my kit is pretty impractical come to think of it. I've scrapped pretty bad on speed bumps with no one in the car, but I also know the roads I drive too so that helps. Yeah I would'nt go that low if its a dd for sure

I've got a splitter and the stranos...best looking drop, car handles well, and i only scrape on huge speed bumps or really steep driveways.

Strano's for the win!

PS: the splltter saves your nose paint too...since our cars are really long.
