Looking for Quality Powdercoating Shop in SoCal
I'm looking for a quality powdercoating shop to powdercoat my chrome c5 z06 rims black. I searched and found some useful info in the threads that were posted (below) from last year. I'm going to take sommer86's advice and call up Universal next week.
Other than sommer86's tip I really didn't see any specific shops that anyone pointed out. Has anyone else had theirs done and had a good experience from another shop? Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside counties? Ball park figures of what it cost? The $60 and $65 per wheel comments sounded very reasonable.
I'm talking to a guy that powdercoated my iron gates at my house but he hasn't really given me a definite price or an idea on how long he would take to finish the work.
Any info is much appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Be careful with the sandblasting. Certain wheels can't be sandblasted as it will ruin the structural integrity of the wheel.
My wheels were the silver 10 spokes that came stock on the SS's. They can't be sandblasted since the blasting takes out micro sized pieces of the wheel, thus degrading the wheel. My guy explained this all to me when he looked at my wheels. He said they needed to be hand sanded.
They were all hand sanded and still only cost $60/wheel. There was a 24 hour turn around from when I got the wheels to him, and when I picked up.
i really appreciated his attention to detain and the information too.
Just ask a lot of questions.

Yeah, I read that in your other post. My rims are triple plated chrome so I'm not sure if they will need to be sandblasted. I've seen it where they drop chrome rims in vats of a chemical acid that strips the chrome off the rim. After that there is minor prep work (hand sanding and cleaning the surface) before they powdercoat. Whether thats what they'll do with my rims I don't know. Either way I'll make sure its done correctly so I'm not riding on my rotors in the near future haha.
