Default modding high mileage cars

i was wondering if it would be a good idea to mod my car because it has 110k miles on it. It runs well and everything but I'm not sure if the mileage would affect it. I was wanting to do LT's and a cam. Should I go ahead and do it or should i hold off on it thanks

If the car runs well now just get the parts installed. I just did heads and cam on a friend's Camaro that had 80k and I did my head and cam last summer on my Camaro which had about the same miles. I'm about to do long tubes on another friend's Camaro that has about 90k. If your car go couldn't take the new mods then the motor was on its way out anyway.

You could throw the cam on it now or wait till you rebuild the engine.

I see no problem with some modding of higher mileage cars. Just be prepared for some of the complications you can run into bolts breaking, oil deposits inside of the engine being disturbed, and some serviceable items usually don't do all that well with you taking them apart. Manifold bolts themselves would probably be your worst enemy unless the car has been kept inside most of its life, and it is nearly impossible to get one out if you break it in the car. Other than that you can always test the water for working on the inside of the engine. Typical rule of thumb is to pull off a valve cover and see what the area inside looks like if there is tons of crud and oil deposits probably best to leave it be. It is like pandora's box when you start disturbing that stuff and usually ends up in killing the engine shortly there after. If the engine is clean inside and has been taken good care of though by all means I would put a cam, oil pump, and new timing set in all at the same time

None of my cars had LESS than 100K (and most were around 130k-150k) when I did cam/nitrous/exhaust etc... and I've had no problems.

A good cam install is just freshening up the valve train (if you do valve stem seals and chain, etc...) anyways...

Car should be fine if it was properly maintained . There's lots of guys in the internal section doing cams and H/C with 100k+ miles

I would if you can afford it, freshen up the motor. New bearings and rings, stuff like that. You just never know in an older or high mileage car. It may last a year, 10 years or a day. I would just suck to do double the work. If not and if you dont get all crazy, Im sure you should be ok.

110k is nothing to a well maintained LS1.

These are LS1s, not old 283s. 110k is not high mileage. 200k+ is where I would consider high mileage, and even then I would say mod it.
