Default Vehicle Swaps

Why the **** does the dmv charge sales tax when you do a even trade for a vehicle with no cash involved?

How can I avoid those fees if we're swapping project vehicles? because, its ******* pointless to pay a 500 dollar tax on a "project vehicle"...

i highly doubt they would catch anything like that
plus if they did you gave that car to him
they have to prove you did not, which is not going to happen
so fill out the title as an gift or what i usally do is put a low value like 200$

Don't quote me on this, but I thought I read years ago that if you could prove taxes have already been paid on the vehicle, you didn't have to pay again.

when i went to the dmv after trading my banshee for a ktm 380mxc they charged me tax even though the trade was straight up. So i had to fill in the declared value which i put like $200 for it so i did not get boned too much harder then i already was paying to register it.
