Default Need some diesel help!!!

So I'm in the market for a diesel right now to use as my daily/towrig. I have narrowed it down to a 99-03 for 7.3l 4x4. Does anyone on here know of any big things I should look/keep an eye out for while looking for a truck. Any big problems? Any help would be really valuable.

Stay away those fords. Some are good most are bad. Get a cummins dodge truck. Do research on google on the ford and chevy diesel trucks.

7.3 powerstrokes are fine, probly the only good thing ford made. the auto transmissions are a little weak, but the 7.3 was an excellent, reliable motor. my last one had 347,000 when i dumped it. if your going to get a 4x4 try to find a srw f-350 so you get the dana 60 up front. you can tell a lot about how people maintain powerstrokes by looking at the air filter. if they go too far between oil changes , or are run really hard, the filter becomes oil soaked, and so does the air box. or just get an lbz duramax and forget the rest

Like said before the cummins diesel is hard to beat, they have about 1/2 the moving parts as the other diesels. which you know makes them more reliable and less expensive to rebuild or fix if you have to.

I would but you would need to bring the price down to 14k. Right now I'm looking at a 2000 ford f-250 with 97k on it. For 13,999.

I can do that but with much of the fun stuff stripped off of it.

No headers
No Blower/meth kit
241 heads
Road race tires
C6 Shifter
Coilovers

Still would have a
Cam 223/228 cam
B&B Exhaust
LS6 oil pump
Alpine
Dyno Matted
Black Out Tails and front markers
Cove Screens

Sorry Reid just not in the books right now. Besides without the blower it looses some appeal to me. Oh and one more thing. BRONCOS 6-0 giggety.

No biggie. The only thing I hate is being in limbo. Either I start robbing from the FRC to complete my 04 or wait it out to see if someone has the cash to buy it. I though about putting it back to stock and making my wife drive it since it get's great mpg for her commute

At least LT put down the points I need to win Fantasy Football. Frking Chargers

ford 7.3L isnt a bad motor, they dont make a bunch of power, but its and good reliable motor, stay away from the 6.0's those things are horrible..... if you want more info talk to luke (camarojunky74) he used to work on them all the time and knows alot about them

I did alot of research before buying my diesel truck as well. For the $ you cant beat a 7.3. MY 2000 f350 dually sits at 308k miles and doesnt even show any signs of it letting up. I will say that if you are looking for a speedy truck look at a Cummins or a newer Duramax. The con to the cummins is that the truck around it will fall apart real quick. The problem with the Duramax is the suspension is real weak/thin metal that bends real easy when offroading.

Let me know when that truck falls apart and all that is left is the engine, that way you can sell it to me to do a transplant Jose. I can pm you a link of what to look out for Darkknight.
