Default 1998 v6 camaro roller fs

Would anyone buy a 98+ V6 camaro for $1700. My lil relative buys cars and flips them from the auction. He bought this 98 V6, paid for the registration, and has the paperwork. He found out the car was donated to the auction. At first he said it ran ok, but hesitated and surged when he accelerated hard. Later that night he was on the freeway, and the car started making a really loud sound, lost power and coasted to the side of the road. He said it was a trail of oil. He said the car is really clean. Would anyone buy this car as a roller, and throw a LS1 in it, or would he be better off selling it back to the auction.

I need some advice to pass onto him. Also what might have gone wrong with the car, how much might it be to fix it, or throw a new engine in it. And is someone intrested in buying it. I dont have any pictures right now, but if I get one ill post it up.

How much do the drop outs go for. I found a thread detailed out most of the stuff you need and it seemed like a lot.

I may be interested if it is a hardtop but not for $1700, if the body is in good shape and depending on the color.

LOL, all you said is it made noises, died, and left a trail of oil. Could be 1000 different things wrong with it, but the big picture is that the motor is toast. You can pick up a new v6 engine and swap that in. That's probably the cheapest option. But if he's got some cash to spend, a LS1 swap is the best option...

I think Lee (ZexGX) {same guy in LS1 swap thread} still has his v6 motor. You could PM him and ask...

Lee,

How do you know if you threw a rod on the car? He thinks that is what happned. Also the car was sluggish at first, and when he fully accelerates it bogs down. It also had a rough idle. Did you ever encounter this? If so what did you do to fix it.

Only way to know for sure it to tear down the block and inspect the bearings. Only way to fix that is a rebuild...
