Default 3rd Gen Help Pt 2

Ok, so another buddy of mine owns a 1987 Iroc z28.
He had a completely stock 305 TPI, flowmaster exhaust, followed by a cutout. Around the middle of last year, he came across a 350 TPI off a 1989 corvette. The guy said it had 18000 original miles. the car was rear-ended took the engine out, scrapped the body. Anyways, the guy that had this motor, he wanted to use it for a 55 Chevy Bel Air. He needed money so he sold the motor for cheap. 1k.
Well he swapped the motor. He sent his 305 computer to Dyno Dons son so that it would start since the motor had vasts.
From what my buddy has told me, it has a rough Idle. 1st gear shifts late in the rpms, higher than usual. When he accelerates it struggles really bad.
Any ideas what this could be?
Any info would help.
thanks.

Sounds like a some bad misfire(s) are going on which causes it to run rough. If there is a lack of power,it will cause it to shift late into 2nd gear because there is a lack of power to use 2nd gear at lower rpm.

How old are the plugs and wires? The injectors can be going bad, or also the distributor, or the distributor cap and rotor. These would be my first guesses. If it's not too much of a distance and your friend isn't comfortable working on the car, I'd advise him to just take it to don again.

Check the MAF as well as the kick-down cable adjustment for the trans.

Wires are new, like a year old.
MSD Wires.
MAF is new as well.
This is all new.
Its been sitting due to the problems.

I will take a look at the injectors and changing the cap and rotor.
Any other factors causing it to act the way it is?
someone told me EGR, to block it off and see if that was it.
IAC Valve, what can I do to it?
how do you check it?
*since I dont know about 3rd gens*

It's not shifting correctly because your Throttle cable kickdown is not adjusted correctly.

No He did.
He used his old 305 computer.
He sent it to Dyno Dons son to make it work with the 350 since the 1989 tpi corvette motor used vats, and his key wasnt working with it.
but all this is good information and will pass it on to him.

Thank you all good sirs.

Correction:
He is using the 89 corvette cpu.
He just got the vats bypassed in order for it to start and run.
Still struggling when driving.

it might be the tps harnes

i had that problem with my 92, around 3k rpm the motor would start shaking an it was hard to pick up anymore speed or to respond, i change that an then it was better. mine was not making good contact, since it was like broken, i changed it an it ran ok.

then my motor started knocking lol
