Default Smoggable "CheatR" V3?

Would this cam be smoggable under the current methods?

Car is a 2000 SS, only other mods going on with the cam would be P&P 5.3 heads, lid, LS6 intake, P&P TB, SLP 2OTL, n2o, stall built trans and rear.

Specs are :
219/230 .607/.604 117 LSA

I ran the numbers and came up with a -9.5 overlap. I remember someone saying it needed to be less than -4 thru -6 to be able to pass, the example given was the Hot Cam which comes out to a 0 overlap making it unpassable.

with -9.5* of overlap i dont see why not, the 224/224 on 114 passes all day with -4* overlap but i could be wrong.

I passed with the lt4 hot cam in my lt1, with a lot of room to play, even with non CA cats. But with a bad tune I failed badly. I think you will pass with out a problem, that is as long as your tune is right on and you have good working cats.

Its gonna be stock mani's and cats so it should be good on that end. I'm gonna try and keep as much stock as possible to keep it sedate and smog legal, that is until i hit the button

I'm not sure how LS1 cam specs compare, but my 222/230 112 LSA cam in my old LT1 barely passed. And that was with a mail order tune.

This is the cam i would get though, the valvetrain will also be considerably quieter then with the cam you listed. He will also help spec the cam to your application free of charge, at least he did for me.

now that EPS cam is interesting i didn't even know they made a cam like that. Also running the numbers it comes out to a -11 overlap, which is a hair better than the TR piece.

Yeah, last time i went, the dude was having trouble passing the black car all the times he tried so he used another car on the dyno next to it and the computer plugged into my car. He charged 300 for the extra BS, but it should have been 200.

I'd go for it. We had a guy in our club who just installed the V3 with stock 243 heads stock mani's, w/cats, tune and put 380rwhp down. he's got a cut-out and sounds good but when closed sounds stock. he hasn't smogged it tho.lol. but I'm sure it would pass.

with that combo he made the same power as his MS3 cam only but the V3 combo is way more DD friendly. also it had a much better torque curve and better power across the curve and much more usable, at least that's what he told me. He had a graph too I believe.

I'm the guy Chris is talking about. I made just about 370hp/370tq but I have LT's and an ORY. For now. soon to be getting rid of those too. I think it should pass smog with stock mani's and cats. Its a great cam and makes great power under the curve. Makes more torque than my MS3 cam and make more hp up to about 5600 than the MS3 did too. Its flat out faster. I do have a graph I will check and see if I can find it and post it up. The MS3 cam made a peak of 388hp/360tq but that was only from 5600rpm to 6500rpm only in that 1k rpm did it scream. Driveability was trash too.
