Default Messed up my hood, need detailer suggestions.

I did a bad thing to my car with rubbing compound. Lot's of swirls and scratches now on half of my black firebird hood. Some maybe too deep for detailing. Was hoping you could give me some trustworthy detailers that can look at the damage and tell me if it will buff out or if I need to repaint. If I need to repaint I figure guys are selling their stock hoods cheap just to make room in their garage. Just gotta find one in good condition. Thank you for your help.

Swirls arent the least bit scary, compound and polish will take care of swirls but how deep into the clear coat did u cut with rubbing compound?? can u feel some of the scatches with your nail? do you have any close up pics?

invest in a da orbital sander like the porter cable 7404... can get them cheap and NO swirls.. otherwise get some microfiber and meguires machine polish and go to work... black is the shittiest color to buff... it shows everything.. heres what it did for me... check the reflection..

Thats a good sign; you may have just marred the finish which is repairable.

From the looks of that picture it just looks like heavy swirls and RIDS (Random In Depth Scatches) which would be expected from rubbing compound. I'd say knowing hard GM clear coat on our cars that the classic M105 or M95 followed by M205 would be plenty to take care of that.

Repaint: not necessary. Compound + Polish: necessary

RIDS stands for "random isolated deep scratches" not "random in depth scratches" lol!
