Default 2009 Malibu vs 1959 bel-air. Video proof that todays cars are safer than in the 50s.

Lots of times I have friendly arguments with people older than me who was around in the 50s or so. They ALWAYS tell me that the older cars are safer because they have a stronger body. Even before I seen this video, I knew that today cars are safer for many reasons. They always have to say 'they crush too easy'. I tell them 'well ya, it's call impact zones or crush zones. It's meant absorb the impact.'
Than they say that they would rather be in a 50s or 60s car during a crash. I always say I'd rather be in a car with a 3-point seat belt, air bags, and on-star.
Well, I have them watch the following video and silence fills the room.
Tell me what you think about the video.

Old vid but good, ya everything nowadays is designed to keep the cabin area from crushing, the front end and rear end take all the damage even at slower speeds. Shame to kill a classic tho

Earlier this month, my sister walked away from this with a bruised leg.

Anybody notice the dice hanging off the rear view mirror in the 59? lol I'll be honest...I thought those cars would have been safer. It makes me want to get a newer car. I'm curious to see how my thirdgen would hold up.

I gotta say, the Bel Air's non-crumpling impact-zone-less hood almost decapitated the Malibu driver.

If it did, I would say the victor of that joust was the Bel Air.

That is an impressive picture of the cabin remaining intact.
