Default Help With Hooker Smog Headers - California

First, THIS IS A TEMP MOD. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE FUN OF ME FOR TAKING MY CAR BACK TO STOCK. RAN AN 11.9 @ 117 WITH THE OLD MOTOR AND WILL DO BETTER WHEN THE GOOD MOTOR IS REBUILT. BTW ITS ONLY A DAILY DRIVER.

I have a set of smog legal Hooker Headers for my 1994 Pontiac Firebird. The part number is 2062-HKR on the headers. On the Hooker/Holley webpage, these headers are 50 state emission compliant. They have a CARB number E.O. # D-164-5.

These headers were purchased in Michigan many years ago.

I live in California and the smog station will not inspect without the Carb number attached to the headers or a CARB sticker. I have neither. My good motor finally spun a bearing, so I have a stock motor that I am installing in and attempt to smog the car.

I called Hooker over 4 weeks ago, gave them all my info and they said they would send out a sticker. No sticker arrived. I called Hooker back yesterday and this time the person I talked to said that they do not have stickers for there headers. They stated that the carb number is attacked to the header. I can't find anything. The only tag is on one of the headers that states "Hooker Super Competition".

Called the Smog Referee Tech in Bakersfield and he said it has to have the CARB number.

Not sure what to do next.

Does anybody have a sticker or if they have a picture of the CARB number on the tubes, can you send me a picture so I can fabricate one.

Currently, I have the new stock motor on the K Member and ready to go in, but I need to get this smog **** figured out.

i had this happen years ago to my 93 TA... i had a set of borla shorties on it and the Carb# plate thast was tacked on fell off.... i ended having to get a copy of the paperwork that carb sent to borla stating that this Pt# header on these year cars carries X carb number... once i gave that to the smog tech they smogged the car... i would call hooker and see if you can get that info, or maybe you can get it from carb

Can somebody with a set of these headers or Hooker Smog headers in general send me a picture of the CARB number plate welded to the tubes?

I called Hooker again today and they stated that it should have a square plate on the drivers side header. They tried telling me that I probably did not have smog headers. The part number on the inside flange is right on the Holley/Hooker website showing 50 state emission legal with a CARB number. After explaining that I am not lying to them they said that if the tag is no longer on that I should buy a new set of headers. WTF

I am trying to do it right, why is it so difficult.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I found in the Bar Manual, " In cases where the label is missing or illegible, the technician my proceed with the inspection, provided the parts can be confirmed as CARB approved or exempted by comparing the part number marked on the part with the CARB EO parts listing or the parts manufactor catalog."

I'm going to take this to my smog guy and see if he will work with me.

If not, any pictures of the carb plaque on a set of Hooker Headers is greatly appreciated.
