Anyway around it or midigating the effects?

For instance buying a car from out of state...

If the seller leaves the purchase price black, you can fill it in yourself (obviously for less than you paid for it.) That is what I have done in the past. If it is from a dealer though you are SOL.

I think your two big choices are:

1. claim its a relative who "gave" you the car. I didn't try that cause his last name was French or Dutch and mine's Italian.

2. prove the previous owner paid state sales tax on it. If they did, you can deduct it.

buy private lie a bit., on that z06 dont try and say it was 5000 or something dumb though.
