Default Ok 6 speed swap will be done this weekend, Who wants to come?

Me and Fierce-LS1 (Zoltan) will be doing a swap over at my gramps shop. I got two Mechanics who are going to help me do the swap, following some of the instructions given in the Transmission Forum. Anyone is welcome to come help/chill we will start on saturday (as soon as he gets into san diego, he is trailering the car in) and work till we are done through the weekend (sleep? maybe? Dunno) Gramps shop is closed on sunday but he will give me the keys. Maybe we can do a BBQ at his shop on sunday? Or Saturday night? Who's down to come help/chill?

Maybe if enough people want to come we can setup a BBQ too... if you guys need any help on your cars or want to use the lift (when we are done) this is the perfect time. Shock/spring replacement takes like 15 minutes with the lift, I know some of you guys wanted to replace your shocks.

Eddie

Sounds like fun. Wish I had the time.

I swapped a t56 in my old 88 iroc a few years back. Best thing I ever did!

hey derek, if you want to do shocks, we got a guy who will swap the front springs onto other shocks for 10 bucks (better than using a damn spring compressor) or you could always rent one at autozone and we could do it at the shop... rear shocks take like 5 min per side

his car was an auto originally too... so I don't think steering columns would make a difference right? Ed was saying he would be able to flash the bcm for us - or is it ez to just swap it?

I've never heard anyone say the steering column is different on a4s and M6s

well the lock cylinder is different, the ignition switch on the column has a cable to the a4 shifter,If your **** was auto too it wont matter.

to do the swap I'd pull the motor out completely. swap harnesses on the ground, trannies etc, drill the firewll with the motor out, mount the clutch master etc. It'd be guarenteed a way cleaner job, I've seen bad swaps and the ******* hydraulics never work worth a **** if its at a funky *** angle. Also you gonna have funky *** 323 gears with the 6 gear? I have a full center section with 20k, 3:42 you could have pretty reasonable.
