Seems like a decent deal from a dealer but you could probable come out better if you sell your car private party and buy from a private party.

Depends on how much they give you for your car and if you're better off selling it instead of trading it in. The Z looks nice tho.

im ganna see what theyll offer on my car. i should be able to get maybe 6500 for it privately but ill take 4500-5500 trade-in if i can get 8500 out the door. i paid 8500 out the door for my car 3 years ago with 66k miles, now it has 78k with a new clutch, new tires, and new pads and rotors. i dont wanna have to pay more then 3k out of pocket cause my credit card just gave me 0% for the next year and im getting married so wifey is really firm on what i can spend of our savings lol

also blue book trade-in on my car is 4800-5300 and this z28 is around 7500. so you can see why i dont wanna pay more than 3k.

^ really? so the car has 20K more on it, but it's 3 years newer. Seems to be pretty clean, and going off what you paid for yours (not knowing if you bought yours private party or dealer, either way it doesn't matter) for another grand, seems pretty reasonable. That being said, the OP knows he can probably get a better deal private party, but from a dealer, the price isn't bad, just depends on what they'll give you for yours.

1st - The dealer should provide a free Carfax.
2nd - Ask if you can take the Car to a Chevy Dealership or Reputable Mechanic to have it checked out, it may cost a little but could save your butt in the long run.
3rd - If everything looks good, offer him $ 7500 out the door if you really like it.

Good Luck. I was asking $ 10,500 for my '02 SS SLP with 78500 miles in very good condition and had $ 2500 + in mods. ( Yes it was an A4 )

Offer him $7.5k out the door? So in other words, he would be getting the car for about $7k plus taxes. Goodluck with that idea.

To the OP. I can almost guarantee that he's not going to give you close to $5k for your car. The only plus for trading in your car is convenience and tax savings. But you will get squat for your car. Remember, the dealer wants to make money, not break even.

Edit: I recommend buying a car from a private party. Not only will you likely get a cleaner/better priced car, but you will also have the opportunity to know the background. That guy probably bought that car from an auction, I'd personally stay away from it.

V6 F-Bodies routinely bring north of $5k up here if they're in good condition.....probably just a regional thing. The last ws6 I saw for sale locally had north of 120k miles on it and they were asking $14k....which I found outrageous....

also i know the value of my car, i could easily sell it for 6k privately with the new cluth, tires, and brakes and rotors. also replaced the lifters and water pump. kbb trade-in is 5k so if i cant get that then i walk away. i have no problem keeping my car as its easily the cleanest around my area.

main things i got going is i know this guy has had this car sitting in his lot i saw it online over a month ago and he just reduced it. also if i buy privately i couldnt put it on my credit card with 0% interest

also idc what i get for my car with trade-in to this car but i dont want to pay more than 3k out of pocket, just no way i can as i have to help pay for my wedding in a few months plus all new furniture and things of that nature.

Yea ok, offer them $ 8500 that would be a better idea. Market is hot right now. Honestly how much do you think that Dealer has invested in that car ?
10% off is a given, 15% off is descent, if he really wants to sell the car - he could knock 25% off & still make money. Start lowball... you can always bring the $ up !

Dealer or private, doesn't matter to me.. I'm soil handing over x,xxx$ for xxxxxx car.

Personally, I would pass. For 8k you can get something way nicer on here.78k miles on my car in Sig.. built trans full suspension heads cam car that already ran 7.4@90+ when I bought It. Immaculate Inside and out. Paid 8500 for it.
