widening ruff 278
just like the thread says.i wanted to know if its gonna be a problem widening the ruff 278 from 9.5 to 10.5 so i can run 315 nitto's on the rear? ive read some info that it is wise to run the hubcentric ring on the ruffs as it is. what things am i looking at as far as back spacing,rings,etc...?i plan on running 18x9.5 front and upgrading the rears from 18x9.5 to 10.5. i know they cost like $200 a rim but is there any complications?

Dude you will fit a nitto 315 no problem since they run smaller, now i don't recommend it, but i have seen it and people have had no problems but any 315 tire calls for at last 10-12 inch wheel width diameter.

oops! i meant 8.5 up front. btw adding to the situation does anyone know if the c5 brake kit up front will clear the 18x8.5? ive heard also that the rims fit fine, however (from threads that ive read) launches could loosen the bolts because of the slight fitting is not an exact fit.then again haven't heard anything in the past 3months of researching either. just like life;i'll have to find out the hard way. wouldn't i need longer bolts after the rears are extended an inch?any sponsers that could key in would be greatly appreciated

thanks for the response that was helpful.if i decide to do this i will be going through weldcraftwheels.com. $200/rim + shipping $50= under $500 for 2 rims welded for the rear. vqmotoring quoted me $864 w/shipping for all 4; good price. under $1400 for rims is not bad at all for the rims i will be happy with.the guy at weldcraft said they will be find especially if they are only adding an inch.he said they get orders on up to 8"! i know these rims are aluminum but i am not agreeing with people saying they may not be reliable especially if i plan on staying under 600rwhp & torque;anyone agree? one question has not been answered yet that ive been trying to find; i do not know the back spacing on the rims required for the ruff's. the guy at weldcraft said if they extend an inch just add and inch to the back spacing.is it really that easy? this is my man concern about them bolting up after they get extended to 10.5.thanx, guys keep'em coming!

wheel
The original offset is 45+mm. If you widened the wheel to another inch it will leave you with a 55.7mm offset. I have asked this question to xsta z28 and he said it should be fine. He said also it will look a bit tucked in but fitment should be fine. He said he had some z06 wheels that had a 58+mm offset and fit good. Just a little BFH and thats all.

My Z06's looked a bit tucked because they were 9.5" width with 58mm offset. 10.5" width with the same offset shouldn't really look tucked at all.

BFH mod; is that a steel hammer or more like a rubber mallet? (BFH= denting the fender walls where the tire rubs?) is there a dramatic difference between 285,295 to 315 tires for traction? this is seeming like an awful lot of chancy BS!

when i went to put on my hubcenteric rings they didnt fit they just sent the tire cocked outward but the fit fine without them on.
are you planing on widening the fronts or putting the ruff 18x9.5? because i know that the stock ruff 18x9.5 will not fit on any f-bodies front, it will not clear the front caliper due to the offset. the 19's will fit though
