Default Best skinnies for street use?

I've heard of some people fragging a tire or having blow outs... Who's had good or bad luck with what tire?

Any of those tires will garantee you failure. Why would you run a tire that was made for a 55mph speed rating on a 1900lb volkswagon, on a 3400lb car that goes much faster?

If you drive on the street, these are your ticket.

If you want a Radial go with the MT Sportsman S/R

If you want a Bias Ply go with the MT Sportsman 8 ply

I am running the Sportsman 8 ply and love how they look and feel. A lot better than the VW tires I used to run and they don't look flat all the time like the 165/80R15's did.

Well my main concern is that I can get a pair of the kumho's for 100... where as the MT's are 127/each.... I see a lot of people using the kumho's... But I agree the MT's would probably be much better.. Time to look for a used set lol

Is anything narrower than 7.5" considered unsafe for the street?

It's your life. If you like dying, save yourself the 127.00 dollars.

Anyone know if a 185/60 would fit a 15x4 inch rim?

I run kumos and love them for street use! I hadvBias-Ply M/T sportsmans and hated them! They handled like crap and wore out fast. The only 100% safe tire that is made to handle is the M/T SR radial sportsmans.

Never tried the Sportsman S/R radials. I've used Goodyear front runners, my BBC car has the 8ply Sportsmans on it, they are about three years old now, and still look brand new. The LS1 car had sportsmans on it, but I sold them to go with M/T's lighter ET Front.

Ive had my kumo's 165/80's up to 150mph once and 120mph a few times! That tires are rated at 1200lbs each tire and i dont think the front of my car is 2400lbs and speed od 118mph. Stock tires are rated at 1400lbs each so its not that far off.

Another good tire i just found

They are way to short!

185/60 = 23.7 x 7.3 to short
165/80 = 25.4 x 6.5 just right
275/40 = 25.6 x 10.7
