is 315/30/18 too narrow for a 18x12 rim?

Kumho has a tire I'd like to use for my LS2 Shelby Cobra and my rear rims are 12" wide. The recommended rim widths are 10.5-11.5. Would the 12 be too much of a stretch?

Well, that's the problem with 18" rims, we don't have a lot of choices of tires for them compared to 17s.
Kumho tires run narrow COMPARED to BFG, GoodYear and Michilen in the same size, and I mean real narrow when you put tires side by side. for that reason and because your rim is 12", I would honestly go with 335s, not sure if your point is to have fron and rear match, but in my opinion the 315 tires from Kumho WILL look kinda narrow on the 12" rim you got. Try going with BFG,GoodYear or Michilen (I know prices are way different), 335 Nittos is another choice. If I had a 12" rim I wouldn't consider anything smaller than 335.

Thanks guys, that helps a lot. The only semi-affordable tire in 335/30/18 is the BFG KDW2 designed for wet and dry use with a treadwear rating of 300. The Cobra doesn't even have a convertible roof so wet-traction really is a non-issue. The Michelin and Pirelli are almost twice the price with treadwear ratings in the 180'ish range if I remember correctly.
The Kumho is a 180 rating with a tread designed primarily for dry-road use - perfect for a Cobra - without the Michelin/Pirelli price tag. It's actually a little cheaper than the KDW2.
The 555r would be a good fit but it's only a 100 tread rating. I don't imagine those would last long at all. But it would hook up and corner best.
The motor should make 500+ fwhp. It's a H/C LS2 breathing through a FAST 92 with looooong 1 3/4 headers and no mufflers. The car will likely weigh in around 2,100 lbs dry. Traction will be essential.
By the by, the front wheels are 10" wide. I was thinking 285/35/18 for those.

how about the Kumho tire that you were aiming for 315 with it, do they make it in 335? If they do then you'd save around 100 bucks per tire compared to KDWs. I wouldn't mount 315 Kumho on 12", but again wouldn't hesitate mounting 315/18 KDW on 12" rim. I understand you wanna stay away from the high Michilen/Pirelli prices and I don't blame you at all.
As for the front, 285/18s would be perfect for ur 10" in my opinion. Keep us posted brother.

No, they don't. If they did, there would be no question. I would have already ordered a set of 335s. A price difference of $100/tire would be tolerable.
I know the Michelins and Pirellis are good tires but I also know they're not twice as good as the KDW2.
Like you mentioned - selection for the 18" community is rather limited.

I keep reading online reviews of the KDW2 (I really am trying to talk myself into them).
I keep reading really positive reviews and getting fired up. Then I read what kind of car the reviewer is using. A Ford Focus or a Rabbit or GTI or an Impreza or Evo. Now, not to say those can't be quick cars, but they're nowhere near what I've got in mind for this Cobra. I'm just not sure...
