Default new tires and now TERRIBLE handeling!!

i just got new tires, 245/45/17. they are diamondback brand. when i'm on the hwy and do a lane change it feels like the *** end of the car is moving side to side.

also ran a GTI last night and when i hit the brakes i was ALLOVER my lave trying to keep it straight.

WTF is going on here, the only thing that was changed is the tire.

check your air pressures and did you get an alignment?

but remember
shitty tires = shitty handling

put them to about 36 and that should help. also remember new tires have a mold release on them and it will take a few miles to wear it off eather that or light em up real good one time lol.

30-35 psi. I could bet that the high pressure is the issue. Most stupid tire shops think you have to use high pressure on lower profile tires.

winner winner chicken dinner...

thats what it was. they were actually at 38-40. lowerd them down to 30-32 and they ride just perfect. only thing i worry about now is the tire cupping in the middle because of the lower pressure. we'll wait and see.

^ Why do you say "low pressure" . . . ? Just because the sidewall says it will hold 44 psi, does not mean that is what the tire should be inflated too . . .

Tire inflation should ALWAYS follow (be close to) the factory recommendations in the owners manual and tire placard in the door jamb . . .

well i actually said lowER pressure, and the sidewall said 50 or 51 i think. just thought that the tire may have been designed to run a higher pressure.

but either way, the problem has been fixed, the car now rides straight with very minimal wiggle. there will always be a small amount.

for what it's worth, these things hook like a mother fudge. but I dont have 10's of thousands dumped into my power/drive train, not even close.

The pressure on the side of the tire is the max pressure, for the total load the tires are designed to handle. Ive always run pretty much all of our vehicles at around 30-32psi and never had any abnormal wear, or handling issues.
