Help with tire size selection for Z06 rims
Okay its time to get some new tires for this car I bought, it has zo6 rims. Right now it has 245/45/17's on the front, and 275/35/18's on the back. It doesnt look right because the sidewall heighth (aspect ratio) of the front tires is larger/taller than the back. It looks stupid. The rear tires are in nice shape so I want to keep them and just replace the front tires. My ? is what tire size should I go with for the fronts that will give me an equal sidewall height to match the rear tires? Something that will look right. Would 245/45/17 be close enough?
Thanks guys and gals.
Heres a couple pics but its hard to see. 1st pic is the taller fronts and 2nd pic is the rears.

1st, since the rears r 18's, u'll hafta have a shorter sidewall to keep the same diameter as the front 17's... 2nd, r they actual Z06 wheels? 17x9.5, and 18x10.5? if so then the fronts should be 275/40's, not 245/45's... same sidewall, but rhe right width for the rims... also, the rears should be 295/35's, for the same reason, 275's r too narrow for 10.5" rims...
245/45 sidewall: 4.34"
275/40 sidewall: 4.33"
275/35 sidewall: 3.79"
295/35 sidewall: 4.07"
245/45 sidewall: 4.34"
275/40 sidewall: 4.33"
275/35 sidewall: 3.79"
295/35 sidewall: 4.07"

^^^ What he said ^^^
You will mess with the ABS and all kinds of issues with messed up outer diameter.. which you will have with staggered rims if you try to get the equal sidewall

Well I dont really care about the ABS, so no wories there. I dont know if they are rel Z06's how do you tell? All the previous owner said was 17 fronts and 18x10 rears??
Your saying 275's are too narrow then how are they mounted? theyve been like that for a few thousand miles atleast.
Whats the formula your using to get the sidewall height for all those sizes?
Thanks for your help.

Well I did some figuring and 275/35/18 is 3.8 in. sidewall and if I buy 245/40/17's sidewall height is 3.9 in. That should work and not be noticeable.

never mind the posts up top until you find out the width of the front rims (prob a 17x8.5, or 9). running a 275 tire on a 10" rim is not uncommon, some tires are wider than others listed at the same size. However you would normally run a 285 or 295 on a 10" rim.
and go on sites like tirerack and they will list the height of the tires and compare that to what you have in the back and get as close as possible. and per Nexen's site, those rear's are 25.6"

You have to have atleast a 1'' difference(I believe) otherwise you will have issues with the traction control -AKA "traction nanny".
Basically, they are designed to not be equal and if they are equal- the computer thinks you are spinning the tires and the traction control kicks in. You can defeat this by putting it in Competitive mode eveytime you get in the car, but that's a PITA!
