Default Wich is wider? 315 sumitomo htrz or 315 nitto 555r?

I ran a 315 sumitomo on my 9.5" rims and the centers wore bad. So I was just wondering if the sumitomo 315 is wider or smaller than the 315 nitto 555r?

i think the nt555r is about the narrowest 315 you can get. However why are you running tires that wide on a 9.5 rim? before you spend money in more tires that are just going to get ruined and possibly fail and cause you to wreck your ride why dont you get your rims widened or buy new ones. you can get your rims widened for less than what a set of nittos will cost you

The Nitto 315/35/17 555R will be narrower than the Sumitomo.

Here is my 555R on a 17x9" WS6 wheel.

You have to run them low around 21-24psi or else the centers get worn out too quickly.

Find me a place to get my wheels widend for less than $388 and I will do it immediatly. I already got prices from james at weldcraft for $215 each wheel plus the $50 shipping each way. That would end up costing me over 500 dollars. I can get the 315 nitto 555r's for $388 shipped to my door.

Do it right. If you want 315s, buy the correct size wheel. Otherwise, stay with 275s. Bulging tires do not look good.

thousands do it without problems. I have never heard of a blowout from it. Nitto's run very very narrow. They are like a 295

Sorry, but the pic Deviant posted of the Nittos on a 9.5" wide wheel looks goofy as a ****. To me it says "I bought the wrong size tires!"

And look at what Nitto's website says is a safe size wheel to run a 315 NT555R on, it says a minimum of 10.5" wide.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/wheels-ti...-5-wheels.html

Save yourself some money and get 275s. Our cars look their best when they're modified properly, not redneckified with bulging *** tires on too small a wheel.

Do a 295/45/17. Its perfect for a 17x9.5 wheel.

I have 275 nitto's down and first gear just wont ever hook good. Plus they look like 255's cuz nitto 555r's run so damn narrow. Wich makes me think the 315 is probably like a 305 tops. I have been through the site and I know what they recomend because of course they don't wanna advertise something that could be unsafe to save there ***. I have ran 315's on my rims before, but I ran to much presure in them and the centers wore down in 10k miles. And the slight bulge on the sidewall looks awesome. I just wanna know how much smaller the nitto 555r is than the sumitomo.

IMO the narrow 315 bulging slightly on the wheel looks better then the stretched look of 275 on a 17x9" or the 315 on an 17x11". Especially if you're running a 275 street tire in the front and the front 275's look wider than your rears 275s.

The left tires is a BFG 275/40/17.. And the right tire is a Nitto 555R 315/35/17

You can clearly see that the Nittos are narrower than advertised.

Here is a 315 555R compared to a 275 MT.

You can see here a BFG next to a Nitto. Both 315 drag radials on the same 17x11 ZR1 wheel but the Nitto seems almost stretched.

A 315 on a narrow wheel only works with the 555Rs as they run narrower than advertised. I wouldn't put any other 315 on anything less than a 10.5" wheel.

Not sure what picture you're looking at but it looks just fine to me. Whatever slight bulge there is, maybe a 1/2" at most actually makes it look better.

odd to see that the R's run narrower than the regular 555s. You'd think it'd be the other way around...

yeah i will agree a nitto 315 looks to small on a 11 inch thats my setup now, and I also belive the tire is actually shorter than the 275 nitto 555 I have on the front. the tire is way smaller than advertised, ,my next set wil lprobably be some bfgs or something thats a wide 315 for the rear I may even try a 325 if I can get it to fit.

I still wouldnt put a nitto 315 on a 9.5 however if I was going to do it the nitto would be the only one it in actuality is about a real world 285 or 295
