You can get it to work if you have a company modify the wheels to widen then, but it's usually at least $200 per wheel from what I've seen from the hand-full of people who have done it.

295s max on a stock tire

315s are more 10.5" or 11" wide

There are some that do. Do it right on a 10.5/11 wheel. It's safer and looks better

That's actually a 17x8 wheel, but would be similar. People have put 315 Nittos on stock 17x9 wheels, but Nittos 315 tire is similar to any other tire manufacturers 275 tire.

Ive had 555Rs and 555s and I wouldnt recommend mounting either of them on a 9" wheel. Even my "narrow" 555Rs were still about 11" wide. The 555s I have on my car now are about a full inch wider than that.

I've had the 555R 315/35r17 and 555 285/40r17. They're the same width!!! Furthermore, I compared them to a 285/40r17 GSD3 I was putting on a Corvette - the Goodyears were nearly 1" wider than the 315 Nittos, not mounted. Mounting ONLY the Nitto 555R drag radial 315/35r17 on a 17x9 is fine.

You realize that most 275 tires are about 10.9" wide? And plenty of people say that 275 will fit on a 9" wheel, so your 315 555R is about as wide as most other 275 tires that fit just fine on a 9" wheel.
