17x9.5 or 17x11 Rear Wheel?
I'm trying to figure out why people opt for the 17x11 vs 17x9.5 rear wheel. So you run a 275 tire vs a 315 tire which is about 1.5" wider. Unless they are side by side, I don't see how a guy would even notice that difference in width. Then there is the whole issue with rotating tires... you basically can't unless they are the same size all the way around. For those who have made this decision, why did you choose one over the other?

I definitely noticed a difference going from my 17x9.5 WS6 wheels to my 17x11 ZR1 wheels on my TA. Better traction when I get on it, plus it feels way more planted in the rear when turning hard. Whats funnier is I had 275/40/17 Pirelli tires on the WS6 wheels which run wide, and my current 315's are Nitto which as mentioned run a little narrow. Even though it seems like a small amount, the extra width makes a good difference. Plus it looks great.

Other than looking better
Traction is the main reason why most people
Go to a wider wheel out back
As for rotating your wheels you can go just as wide in the front
I was running 315's all around
Even with one of my sway bars off my TA was out handling a stock one with 275's

Personally, I think f-body cars look awesome with the right drop and some 315's in the rear! Compared to Mustang's, Challenger's, etc...they have a much lower and wider look already, so when you throw on a fat rear tire it just looks all the better That's just my opinion

Fat wide tires look more aggressive and gives better traction. You wont be able to rotate the tires so you gotta decide if you want to sacrifice for the look. My brother wants 11's, not happening on that college budget he's on. You can always do 17X10 all the way around (Smoothie III's look cool).

Are you willing to hammer your inner fender wells and grind a bit off the jounce bumper? Some cars will get by without any work, but others may need a decent amount of hammering. With mine, I hammered in the part that rubs over a 1/4 inch and it still rubs through the undercoating down to the primer on both sides during very hard cornering.

I love my 315s! Turns a lot of heads, trust me. Mine had sportline springs on it when I bought it and it rubbed like crazy so I put the stock springs on it and never had to hammer anything. Would never in back to a 9.5 rim in the rear again.

you will notice a big difference in size going to a 315, makes the car look much better IMO.
here's a pic with mine, tire sits nice and even with the top of the fender and just enough room not to rub
