Going to be buying a new set of tires and have narrowed it down to those 2. I'm looking for tires I can get 25-30k out of and that offer good wet performance also. My car is a Semi DD during the summer and does see some rain. Car might see the track once a year and some spirited street use. The comp 2's are 22 dollars more per tire and I'm wondering if that's worth it. I Know people are generally happy with the nt555s but I haven't seen as many reviews on here for the comp 2's

The nittos will last longer and perform better in the rain. The BFG's will perform better when its dry.

Neither will last 25-30k if you use them for what they are designed for. If you need them to really hook up on the street, and you use them for that purpose on a regular basis, you are looking at more like 10-15k out of them.

FWIW I think the Nitto's are better for DD and spirited driving. But if you want traction more than the ability to drive safer in the rain the BFG's would be the better way to go.

The nittos are awesome for a dd. I've had them for 3+ years. I'd buy another set if the car was still a dd.

ive had nittos on several vehicles and always been happy. i have them on my gto now. Great balance between performance and driveability in my opinion for a affordable price

I have put 40,000 miles on the Nitto NT555's from daily driving mainly at sea level and the occasional canyon drives. I recently purchased the Super Comp 2's, but are still sitting in the garage waiting to be installed. I went with BFGoodrich because they are supposed to be slightly wider.

I know this comparison is not quite the same but.... I had a customer ask for some tire quotes. He drove an '04 Mazdaspeed Miata and says that he drives it hard, but also needed it to handle the rain. I recommended the G-force sports. I later got to ask him what he thought and he stated he loved them, exactly what he was looking for. Now, those were the original G-Force Sports, not the new Comp-2's, which I inderstand are even better. I have no experience with the Nitto's, so I cannot make a comparison.

Looking online I see the nittos are 11.02 inches wide and the sport comp 2's are 10.9 inches wide.

Honestly after the reviews I have been reading I'm starting to swing back towards the comp 2's. I'm starting to realize I don't think I can really go wrong

The ONLY things I am a little disappointed with concerning my Comp 2s is the 340 treadwear rating (which tells me they may not be as sticky for HANDLING reasons {do not care about drag/stoplight racing} as some other lower treadwear rated rubber), and the stupid, insipid, aesthetic reason of thinking that the tread pattern is fugly.

Other than that, I could not love them more!!

I finally installed the bfgoodrich g-force sport comp-2's and like them so far. They seem to have better traction off the line compared to the Nittos under full throttle, but my Nittos did have 40k miles on them. The bfgoodrich tires are a little meatier than the Nittos.

I have a pair of the original g-force sports that were on the rear of my car for about 2 years now and had maybe 10-15k on them on the rear. Not I have them on the front and the nt555s on the rear. They've seen maybe 8-10k.

I never felt a huge difference, but I think the nittos are the better looking tire and they were cheaper at the time(walmart online sells nt555's real cheap). I think they are wearing at a similar rate but the nitto still feels soft to the touch and the bfg (granted it's a couple years older now) feels kinda dried up.

Both can't put down power on the street with my 400ish HP and stalled auto.

BFG's never went to the track, but I was able to pull a 1.6 60ft with the nittos(size 255/45/17) when I was bolt on's/exhaust/converter and no cam.


The key to getting the nittos to hook is get em hot. I lit em up, avoided the water, had them aired down a little and they bit hard.

Comp-2 are the new tires from BFG. They are a step above the NT555 in all regards. Of course, you're comparing a 10 year old tire to a new one. Tire technology advances pretty quickly.

BFG will have better wet and dry performance over the Nitto if you get the new Comp 2. Both Dry and wet performance are improved over the previous generation!

I personally can’t compare to the nt555, because I’ve never tried them, but I’ve had a set of sport comp-2s on my ’02 Z28 a4 for about a month, and I like em a lot. I bought them for dry performance only to the track, and will be drag raced routinely – so far, they’re workin. Yeah, it’s only a mid-to-high 8 second car, but it’ll dead hook at 27 lbs.

I know that this is primarily a 17” wheel and larger crowd, but if you run a 16”, the sport comp-2 may be, THE tire.
