Default 315 BFG drag radials

I just recently picked up two brand spanking new 17x11 chrome ZR1 wheels for $250, and two almost brand new (200 miles on them) 315 BFG dr's for $200...so you can say I jumped at that deal lol! Now here is my question...how long do these tires last if they are street driven with minimal burnouts and maybe 1-2 track visits a year? I really wanted 315 Toyo TQ's, but had to jump on this deal. Anyone have a good comparison between the two tires? Hoping I'll be happy with them coming from 275 Nitto dr's...I had no traction till 3rd gear with them lol

I never went to the track and did no burnouts.....just hoped for better traction on the street with my BFG drags. 315 size.

They are terrible......I could spin them for 1/4 mile on the street if I wanted to.

They were bald in 4,000 IIRC.....

I bought 315 size Goodyear GS-D3's......10 times better.....they are excellent in the rain and they last 17,000 miles.

Drag radials aren't made for street use......prepped track and then they work.

How much power were you making? The D3's didn't hook better though did they? 4000 miles sucks lol

I had them on a stock M6 Lt1 with 4.10s. They were slicks after 3 visits to the track lol

It was my 427ci stroker.....500 RWHP / 500 RWTQ

Yes....the GS-D3's hooked WAY WAY better. No way I could spin them through the end of second gear from a dig like I could easily do with the BFG's. I could also go WOT from anywhere in 2nd gear from a cruising speed and dead hook. The BFGs would go up in smoke from anywhere in second.

I tried the BFGs at different pressures too....with friends who are 1/4 experienced racers. Nothing worked.

GS-D3's.....are the ****........

It really surprises me that a street tire hooked better than these dr's.

Thank you for the feedback

Im sure cars will react differently......but for me...Nite and day difference.

Also, I could not find 315 GS-D3's for my last tire change 3 years ago. So my friend got me a good deal on 315 Nitto 555 Extremes......they are friggin AWESOME TOO. They also hook WAY better than the BFG drags did. And they are great in the rain too. AND....I have 14,000 miles on them right now and they still have a ton of tread left. Granted I never, ever spin my tires for fun.....just aggressive, fun daily driving. Great tire.....

6-8 isn't to bad I guess. Not for a drag radial that sticks like this

NT05R would be my choice. They might last 5-8k miles, but they handle like a real tire and hook like Mickey Thompsons...

The NT05R is really that good? I've always heard Hoosier and MT were the best with BFG coming in a close 2nd. I've heard good things about M&H as well

M&H is the best. Hoosier and MT are next. But the NT05R isn't far off. You just have to run much lower pressures at the track, because it has an actual sidewall. So at normal PSI - I run 25psi - you can actually drive it around corners at normal car speeds. Actually, you can drive it like a performance tire. Interstate on-ramps at 85? Check. Grip from a dig with 500rwhp in first? Check.

How are any of these in the rain? I know the 555Rs can work well in rain, but I'd really like to try NT05Rs or some mickey Ts...
