Default Need Help, 15in. Street Setup

Let me start off by saying I am new to the forum but I have been an avid car enthusiast for many years now. Two months ago I purchased a bone stock 1998 z28 and have been modifying it.

I am looking into new wheels and tires. The Camaro is my daily driver so I want something that is practical for the streets. That being said I also want great performance, this needs to be a good balance.

I am very interested in a 15in drag style wheel and am partial to Nitto tires due to price and performance. Something along these lines is what I am looking into for the rear.

Nitto makes 2 tire sizes in the 555R which is 275/50R15 and 325/50R15. Would the 325 size tire be practical for the street or should I stick with the 275 width?

Also what tire/wheel size should I then run on the front? The skinnies you see all the time on the front just don't seem good for daily use. Thank you for your feedback!

325 is a big tire, it takes some work to get them to fit without rubbing anything. I had 275/50/15 and now have the 325/50/15, after the 325 wear out I'll be stepping down to a 295/55/15. Depending on the height of your front tires the 325 will cause ABS and traction control to be on, because of height difference. 325 is a 28" tall tire, 275/50 is 26" and close enough to stock size to not cause any issues. Some 15" wheels require grinding and reshaping on brake calipers. I've driven thousands of miles on skinnies without any problem, just have to remember you are not going to be carving any curves with them. Not saying you can't turn at speed with them, I've done 50-65mph around freeway curves many times without a problem on skinnies

For a daily driver I'd personally look for stock 16 or 17" size rims and tires.

I love the look of 15's in the back with all that tire meat. I am set on a 15 in wheel but i dont want skinnies on the front. what is a good tire size for the front so I can dip into a turn without worry?

Race stars are pretty nice. You can get a 15x8 or 15x8 from them. I think you may want to look into a 17" front if you want to still corner. You can get a 17x7.5 and run a decent sized front tire. I am a fan of the 17" front/15" rear look. Some don't like it. I have 17x4.5'" dark stars and will be buying 15x10's in the spring.

subscribed. I too would like to run 15s all around, but not skinnies up front.

I would buy a DD first if you're set on big and littles. No good tire is going to be able to be driven in the rain. And you can't fit a wide 15" in the front. 15x4 is about the limit due to brake clearance.

You can get 15" front and rear Race Star Dark Stars for a good price. You could run something like a 15x5 up front and a 15x10 in the rear. A 325 size tire will fit. You will have to massage the inner fenders some, and if you're lowered, likely roll the fenders.

The 15x10 rears and 17x7 fronts are very popular. Give us a call and we will be happy to go over the options for you. We have a end of year promotion going on right now and killer prices. We offer Billet Specialties, Weld, and Racestar.
