Default tires for my 98 z28 ss camaro (snow use)

i was wondering what type of tires would be best for the snowy season (wyoming). right now i have 275/40 zr17 98w all season on it. overall they work good on the roads itself, but for like hills and some places that have some snow buildup i get wheelspin. i was just wondering if studs or skinny tires would help with this. i already have about 100 lbs of sand bags in the trunk. thanks in advance for the help.

Yes, a dedicated set of true snow/ice tires would be a drastic improvement. I would recommend picking up a spare set of 16x7, 16x7.5 or 16x8" wheels and mounting 225/55/16 true snow/ice tires on them (I used Blizzak WS60 myself, I think the current version is the WS70.) It is shocking how well my '02 Z28 used to handle the snow with the aforementioned setup.

Good advice. Smaller diameter wheels with either a Michelin Xice or Bridgestone Blizzak and you will not believe how good the car is in the Snow.

Love the blizzaks I have for my Cruze.
you can find decent sets of 16" wheels for a good price.

Pirelli is making some good winter tires now as well.

Blizzak were my go to, but I currently have Pirelli Scorpion Winters in a 275/40/20s on my 485hp 8spd automatic Challenger and I am very impressed so far with over all performance in snow and icy conditions.

If you have someone nearby, that sells Nokian tires, they have an "off brand" called Nordman. The Nordman 4, is the previous generation Nokian Hakkapellita, an OUTSTANDING snow tire........

I drove a 2002 Camaro Z28 as my only car/daily driver in Ohio. I put a spare set of 10 spoke SS wheels on it (to clear my Wilwood brakes) and ran 235/55-17 tires (as I remember). I ran snow tires from Yokohama, Michelin and General on that car (as I remember) and never got stuck with any of them. I ran the narrowest tire I could use on that wheel and went as tall as reasonably possible to avoid ground clearance issues and keep the speedometer close to right. If you don't have upgraded brakes, then you can likely do something in a 16" wheel instead.

Snow tires are a great investment.
