Question Pros and cons of 18" x 8.5?

I am having a hard time finding some 18" wheels I like and saw some ADR's but there only 8.5 wide. I wanted 18x9.5 but they dont make them
I like to race a lot 1/4 mile/highway runs and dont want to have problems with traction.

Well, with Nitto's on any tire you will get some traction. But, you won't fit a very wide tire on a 8.5" wheel and it will look kindy woosey, IMO. I like wide tires, but that's just me.

I have 18x8s in my boyd timeless 5s and I say DONT DO IT. I hate the look with the 245s so i'm planning on going with some 17x11s all the way around when ever i get the courage to sale these or save some money up.

I'm only making 350 at the wheels and I can spin these tires all the way up to 50mph easy if I stay in it. If you like the rims enough I say get them widended for 200 dollars each.

thanks for the info guys

traction was even hard with DR's at only 550rwhp. Now the car will have over 600rwhp and want the most traction I can get. So I guess that means getting the widest tire possible with BFG DR's. Tell me about getting them widended for $200 each.. who does this and how?

Wheel America does this and they cut the wheel in half, weld in how many more inches you want, and balance them and do all that good stuff. I'm pretty sure there is a location in CA.

8.5 is way too narrow. Besides the lack of traction, it'll also look ridiculous. I know from experience, my 3.4 Camaro had 18x8's on all four back in high school. Fronts looked fine, but the rears were like a foot inside the fender.

Hey man! Hows the build up going? PM me sometime

You should check out wheelreplicas.com

18x9.5 Set in chrome is only 1089. I had a set of their wheels on a mustang and they were top notch.
Good luck.
