I have some Michelin Pilot XGTV4s on another car and they have excellent wet and dry handling.

I got the d3's out back in 285/40/17. I only have a couple hundred miles on them, but so far so good. They hook pretty damn good and are the best looking tire I've yet to see in person. If I could do it all over again, I'd probably go cheaper and get some Pirellis or Kuhmos.

I've run 285/40/17 and 245/45/17 GSD3's for a year now and I think they look killer but suck for performance especially if cornering is a priority. The straight line grip is mediochre and although the cornering grip is decent the sidewall is as soft as turd and the car is wobbly until laterally loaded. As odd as it sounds on an F body the Yokohama A520 was the best tire I've run yet. I could slip an LT4 clutch and not spin the Yok's when new and the cornering grip was almost scary. The only downside was they wear out fast and were a bit harsh and noisy. The new model is the AVS Sport and I would have gone for it but I opted for the GSD3 for looks and what I thought was going to be an ever better performing tire from all that I read about them. All I can say is Blarg these things are way overated. I wont ever use them again and I wouldn't recomend them.

That being said had I never used those Yok's I would have thought these things were great but there are waaay better tires available for that money. I'd go for the kumho's over these.

I tried looking for the A520 on Tirerack and could find it. Do they go by another name too?

I should have specified but the A520 has been replaced with the AVS Sport. The thing that really gets me burning is the tirerack reviews for the AVS Sport are not the best and the GSD3 is made out to be some kind of wundertire. I pretty much based my purchase from those reviews and was so pissed after buying them cause of the huge coin and the tire did not even come close to living up to its high grading on tirerack. If you read through a lot of them you will see the odd guy who slams them like I have and check out what they say... Also check out what they are using them for and comparing them too. I figured it was just the odd "hater" but they seemed to have the most specific comments like I too now have unfortunately. Anyways I made a mistake and only posted up about these so others don't have to get robbed. I'm not saying Goodyear is junk cause I did have a set of GSC's that were great many years back that in the dry I'm sure would roast the GSD3. I'm just very puzzled as to why so many rave about this tire which I think is pretty lousy overall.

One word of advice... Ride before you buy. try out someone elses car and lean on them a bit and you will see for yourself. Try just swinging the car from side to side like guys do when they warm up tires before a race starts. One word.

Sloppy.

I am really glad you posted this. I have always found Goodyear tires to be basically crap. In other car lines if you move up the line by 50% in $ you seem to get 50% more tire. In a Goodyear you pay 50% more to get maybe 10% more tire. At the top end you get a lot more but with your review I won't bother checking them out.

The stock tires on my 97 Bonneville were Goodyears. Whoever spec'ed that tire should have been shot. I have never seen a tire less safe in the rain than those Goodyears.

Glad to be of some help. Funny thing is that in the rain is about the only time the GSD3 shines. Other than that they pretty much suck. Much better tires available for the money IMO.
