i have been hearing that people are waxing their chrome rims.

what wax do u use? is there anything specific?

when i bought my chromes i was told to only use windex to clean them. windex is suppose to be gentle.

quick questiom though, doesn't polish act kind of like a cleaner and remover layers as u use it. that is why it turns black on the cloth when u are wiping it. or am i cinfusing that with something else?

thanks guys keep them coming.

I had rust starting to form on mine..I think it was just from the brakes from where I wasn't driving it much (and the fact that it was winter time). I just got Turtle Wax Chrome Polish and it made them look like they did the day i bought them. A guy from Auto Zone told me I could use the regular Turtle Wax on them..I bought some of it too and havent tried it yet.

Me too man. Zaino polish is not abrasive at all. It will not put any swirls on the new chrome wheels. If you notice while you are waxing new swirls then you are using a bad towel.

I use a spray wax in a can for touch ups and when at the track to remove rubber and to clean the #'s off the windows. Works great on the wheels too. They sell it at the track, but wallmart carries the same stuff for under $5 a bottle and is good stuff. You can do your whole car if your in a hurry in 20 minutes and use some good microfiber towels. My car is silver so isn't a huge pain to keep clean.

When you polish and get all that black tarnish on your rag, That is just a chemical reaction with the metal. On chrome it will not take off anything because there is no exposed metal.

Seriously give the mothers a try, it left them looking new, and I rushed it. I think you will be suprised by the way they turn out and its not that expensive.

i used mcguires... or the black 10 dollar tub of it. It is the same stuff i use on my paint and it works awesome on both the wheels and the paint. The little pad it comes with makes it easy to wax those ss 10 spokes.
