Default Hole in Nitto DR, to plug or not to plug?

Well on the way home from work the other day I picked up nice little shard of metal in the tire, its like on the boarder of being on the tread and the sidewall but closer to the tread.

Now I definatly wouldnt trust the tire being plugged doing any kind of aggressive driving, but would it be ok for a couple days till i can get another tire? Im just worried because its such a soft tire,

BTW there 245/50/16 nitto drs

ok that makes me feel a little better, are you thinking the patch would be a permanment fix?

If the patch will hold i'll do it, i just dont want a blow out at the 1000' mark lol

Got my Nittos at Discount. THey asked me if I wanted Road Hazard, I said yes, they sold it to me.

Fast forward a few months, little wear, as they are on for track trips only, and I got a hole in the sidewall. Discount syas - Not repairablable. I said, glad I bought Road Hazard. Counter guy said, we don't sell RH on those. I asked him to check there records. He said, "They weren't supposed to do that." Then he proceede3d to replace the tire with a brand new one.

I like that the guys at Discount (1960/Perry) stand behind their stuff, even if they weren't supposed to sell me RH.

You can also have a patch plug put in to repair the hole. The patch is used to help keep the plug in while you do burnouts. I had one of my nittos fixed like that with no problems.

Any gas station or tire place can do that right? I just started painting my brakes and noticed that I had a nail in one of my nittos. What do I ask? Just tell them to patch and plug it?
Thanks!

well i took the tire to my local tire guy, he said the holes too close to the side wall to plug or patch and that it would bubble? i dunno, hes helped me out before so i dont think he was just blowing me off.

then i guess the new Q is how bad is it gonna be with a nearly 1/2 worn nitto and a brand new one since i dont have the funds right now to replace both. sucks being a pool college kid.

And yep kicking myself for not getting any RH now, i ordered them from todd at prodyno when they had their deal going so he might not offer RH anyway.

If the hole is too close to the sidewall it cannot be fixed.

I plugged my old nitto's when they were completely out of tread but not quite hitting the cords. The hole was near the center never near the sidewall. An inch or closer to the sidewall and I personally would not drive around on it at higher speeds.

Oh, my plugged nitto withstood a 1.69 60ft time

I've plugged a set of bfg dr's and run a whole season, burned them down to wires and the plug was still holding..... also plugged a hole about an inch off the tread into the sidewall on another tire, held till the tires wore out..... plug that b*&$h and motor on!
