Mother's polish ball for aluminum rims
I recently came across the Mother's Polishing Ball for polishing aluminum rims. At first I was in sticker shock, $18.95 did not seem like a good deal. I bit the bullet and purchased one anyways. This hooks on the end of a drill to aid in cleaning the rims. Having Z06 polished wheels that are a real pain to keep clean I thought it may help.
Well all I can say after using this handy-dandy gadget is that I would have been willing to pay $30.00 for it after using it. I tortered this thing and it never tore, no pieces went flying or anything of the sort. I actually over heated my 1/4 drill and no damage was done to the polishing ball.
If you are tired of polishing your aluminum rims by hand this can be a real time saver and the shine is great.
I once tried to use a dremel, never again is all I can say about that great idea!
Well just thought I would share what worked for me.

I do not how long for sure it will hold up. I do know that I gave it a good test and it impressed me. On my first rim I was gentle and had to do all of the corners by hand. I then decided that I bought this thing to save time and hand polishing so I pushed it hard and rocked it around. It never made and nicks or tore. I did get it spin slightly on the shaft and backed off a tad then, at this point the drill was so hot it needed to cool down Please keep in mind this was a cheap 1/4" drill. You may not want to get so carried away with a good drill.
I do not know what type of foam they made it with but it is tuff.

Mine has worked pretty good. The rims on the truck were pretty oxidized when I picked them up from a buddy of mine. They knocked alot of it down, but I need a stronger drill. My 12V cordless just doesn't have the power I'd like. It sure as hell beats doing it by hand though.

I've had one since it came out and have used it on all my vehicles. I've polished i'd say at least 50 wheels with it and it hasn't lost it's shape or anything, it's time for a new one though, it was red when I bought it now it's pitch black and polish and tarnish dosen't wash off that well !!!

If you got chrome wheels get the Mothers chrome polish. I didn't think it would do much but made a huge difference on my chrome ZR1's. I use the power metal polish on normal aluminum. It was OK but not any better than billet polish or Wenol.
