Default Are prostars and sticky tires going to trash my rear end and tranny?

I'm looking to buy a new set of wheels and tires exclusively for the track. But I'm afraid if I go to prostars and sticky tires I'm going to start tearing up the rest of my drivetrain and I don't really feel like messing with the tranny and rearend until I have something else to drive. Any ideas? Oh yeah, its an M6.

if your on the stock 10 bolt and only want something for the track i would suggest buying another cheap set of stock ss rims or something similar, and putting nitto's on them instead of expensive prostars and flat out slicks. either way if you run ALOT, and get ALOT of traction, i'd expect your rear to break sometimes, but on that note i knew a guy running nitto's that was hitting low 11's high 10's on the 10-bolt, it's really a gamble i'd say.

The stock 10 bolt is a time bomb waiting to go off. With DR's, it's not really a matter of if, but when.

It a 50/50 shot wether the rear will hold, so do, some dont, a4 are easier on rears and m6 are harder on them, I seen a guy with a stock 10 bolt in a 6spd run low 11's and never break it !

Ive heard a wide DR will actually be harder on your rear end than that of wrinkle rubber. Dont quote me on that, but Ive heard that the wrinkle rubber helps absorb some of the impact. IF your are looking for a set of rear wheels and rear tires for the track, go that route! Be some quick 60 footers!
