Unhappy Help, My Chrome Is Pealing Off !!!!!!

Has anyone had this problem before?? The chrome on my rims are literally just flaking off. I know my rims might not be the best money can buy (they are from LGmotorsport) but they are not good enough to hold up against Ohio's winter. The salt apparently ate my chrome right off. I tried my best to keep frequently cleaning them but it wasn't good enough. Does anyone know what I can do besides get new rims?? I was thinking about getting them painted, but I don't know how that will hold up. ANY SUGGESTIONS ???

Has anyone painted chrome rims ?? Of course I would have the chrome sandblasted off and take the neccesary steps. Just wondering if there is anything I should be concerned about with the paint "sticking" to a wheel that has been through the process of being chromed........

Your honestly better off purchasing another set of wheels, sand blasting your current wheels and powdercoating them will cost a ton.

I took a set of painted ROH Snypers and polished them to a chrome finish. He drove from South Carolina to Atlanta to have me do these. Dropped 'em off and one week later picked 'em up. ~Joshua

A lil' Zoopseal and they'll stay in this condition for over a year in between applications of zoop.

It was the best $115 per rim he ever spent. Here's some pics of the finished product...

You need to buy triple plated chrome. Also do not use wheel cleaners, they are very acidic and wheel weaken your wheels finish.

Your crazy. Its cheaper than re-chroming & cheaper than new wheels.

Wow any chance on a basic rundown on how you made this happen? Could this be done to the stock silver trans am rims? Thanks

Beyond expaining. Not being rude. Trust me. Start on small stuff like maf ends. Search in the appearance section on "polishing advice" I've wrote books worth of tips and steps and posted lots of pictures of the supplies.

Polishing is a black art. It's taken me years doing this type of stuff to make it look like this. Pay a pro for the work, trust me. ~Joshua

Joshua knows what he's talking about. If you don't believe me, just take another look at his sig.

Zoopseal would work well if you decide to just polish them. But yeah, once the chrome starts coming off, you have the options of buying another, having it re-chromed, or polishing them.
