Default Trying to choose tires!

My son needs tires on his 94 Z. He starts school in St.Louis this month and will need tires before making that drive every day. Would like to put an all season type tire on the car as he will be driving it as much a possible through the winter. Any help please. Brand and type.

I like the BFG KDW's .. They are a all around good tire, thick thread ,easy to drive on and have pretty good tread life span, Plus there not too expensive. I had these on my mustang for damn near 2 years.... heres a link

For the price I have had good experience with Falken ZE 512's. They are generally about $95 each for 245 50 16's. They are good for three seasons anyway. I would advise getting dedicated snow tires if your son is going to be driving everyday to college in the winter. Bridgstone blizzak tires are a little over $110 each. Also I would look into a winter tire that is studable. A Z 28 is a torquey car and can slip real easy. I remember, (foolishly) commuting in my GTA in the winter and getting stuck, the wheels were spinning on the ice just idling. I think its important to have that extra piece of mind that comes with superior traction.

Has anyone had any experience with the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500?

I checked Tire Rack and the price for the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 is 3.00 more than the BF Goodrich KDWS. 145/50 16

Looked at Tire Rack. BF Goodrich KDWS and Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 are basically the same price. Has anyone ran the Firehawks?

I had Bridgestone Potenza RE 930's on my '93 Camaro. They were great. During that time, my daily commute to work was about 70 miles round trip. I think I got between 25k and 30k out of those tires. I believe the size was 245/50-16. Excellent dry grip and really good in the rain. We don't get a lot of snow in the Tennessee Valley but, when we did, they handled better than I expected them to for RWD. Of course, that was cautious driving on secondary roads.
Here's a pic of the '93 with those tires:
