Default widest tire for ss 17x9

what is the widest tire i can put on the SS 17x9 ten spoke rims? i heard i can put 295, but that'd be squeezing it bad. Would 285 work?

Hi there batmn77, the widest that I had on my stock SS wheels was 285/40/17s on all 4s. I wouldn't go with the 295s because with the 285s up front, they would rub the front inner plastic fender wells which is minor but, be careful. I have 295/35/18s out back on a 10inch wheel and they fit perfect. Hope this helps, Later

285/40 is what im ordering for the rear. THere half inch wider then a 275/40. Fit nice on a 9 or 9.5.

Nah, 285 will fit just fine on the rear. And many run 'em up front too (as stated above).

285's GSD3's work fine. I've ran them before with no problems. . . . .

285 is the max I'd go, but that looks stupid, IMO, as the tires really bulge over the sides of the wheels.

I've always like the look of a slightly bulging tire. I'll probably get the 285s next time around for the rear.

my car with factory SS 17x9 with BF Goodrich KDW 285/40/17 all around. The BFG's tend to run the fattest tread widths.

275/40ZR17 is the PREFECT tire. A 285/40ZR17 is doable. No further discussion required.
