Don't get either. I would get the Toyo Proxes T1-R they make them in the size you need. 295/35/18 and 265/40/17 they are the best tire I have used yet so far and the price is right. The kuhmo Mx is a pretty good tire, but they lose their balance quite easy and the treadlife sucks. The Toyo's cost the same and hook better and last a lot longer.

I bought a set of Kumho's for my TA. I've only had them for a month, but so far I like them.

x2...both won't hook if that's what you're looking for.

depends on what u want... iv never run those toyos or kumho's, but i run 275/40/17 firestone firehawk wideovals on my car and one guy did make a good point... if your looking to drag race on these its not a good idea... they are jsut a good DD tire... they are great in the rain and dry pavement... they are deff the best tire iv ever run... i mean on tirerack they rank #2 out of like 48 tires in their class so they must be doing something right.... i also have a full set of stock wheels so i just bought 2 mickey thompson et street radials for drag racing purposes... BTW ran last fall on the wide ovals and got a horrible 2.6 60' .... im not that good at launching yet tho so it could have been some the fault....

I have Firestone Wide Ovals (about 20k miles I think), and they are decent for daily driving, but as stated above, 60' wasn't good. I think I got about 2.2/2.1 for my best 60' (with traction control on) when I realized I had forgotten to disable traction control, it only got worse (2.8-4.x). It literally was like I was doing a burn out at the tree. Perhaps with less air they would have performed better, but I'm resolved to not go back to the track with these tires.

I've probably got about 5k left, then I'll be replacing them. Leading contender is Nittos, though I'm more interested in street driving and handling than drag strip, so I'm still unsure.

I just want a tire that I can drive on the street but if I get on it from a 20 or 40 roll they are just not going t burn off. Im not big about the track and my car is bascially stock.

The Wide Ovals would probably be fine for your driving habits. I don't know that they are the best option in that price range, though, since I've only used the stock Goodyears and them.

it doesnt matter what tire you get really becuase if im going 25 30 and down shift to 2nd i can roast em till the rods blow out of my engine and my car isnt really all tha tmodded... but i can say they hold the road amazingly take jug handles all the time at like 50+ and dont even feel scared of loosing control... my car is lowered too which helps... but like i said even if you drive on drag radials unless they are burned out and sticky they will not grip well on the road either.... plus with drag radials you loose probably 15,000 miles worth of tread to a normal street tire... because of teh soft rubber... hope this helps ya bud...

i've actually got some Cooper Zeon 2XS in a 245 wide on my car, and they perform pretty damn well for stock power levels....and i'm sure a 275 would be even better.

don't have any problems at all in the rain, and they stick like glue around corners in the dry....and i like to sling my car around corners at a pretty good clip (assuming there is no traffic around).

also, it says that these are not intended for snow or ice, but this past winter, i drove in icy weather (albeit, not COMPLETELY iced over) without any problems at all....i just took it a bit slower, and was fine

these are pretty affordable, too.....i think i paid like $116/each for mine....although i did have to special order them at D.T.

and tread life seems to be pretty reasonable....i've had them on the car for 7500 miles, and they still have lots of life left in them....i'd say at least another 12k - 15k

The MX's are OK for the money . . . They are cheap. I have them and won't buy them again.

Heavy, hard to balance, noisey and have turned hard.

I agree with you on that one. I had them and will not buy them again. They are really hard to balance. They were nice when they were newly installed, but that did not last long.

a friend of mine runs these, 295/35/18's and 275/40/17's up front, they look great and as stated before dont hook great from a dead stop, especially with a H/C LT1 with a 175 shot, but i mean he didnt expect them to, theyre a great handeling tire that are great for DD'ing, im going to get these but since they only make 295's and 245's in 18's im going 295's all the way around, should handle great

I have had all 3 of these tires. I really didn't like the Toyo's I had a lot IMHO. I think anybody looking on tiretrack with a budget will come down to the wide oval or the MX. Thats what I did. One year I got the MX and now I have the wide ovals. There both pretty good. The MX is treadwear is 220 and I still got about 25k on them when I sold them, and I only rotated them once. I think I give the ever slight edge to the firestone.

I dont' think too many street tires are going to give you that 1.75 60 foot, but on the street with my modded camaro these things hoook really really good. I'm amazed. I think they have a good price and since they have a higher tread wear I figured based on miles per tire and price they would come out a few dollars cheaper.

So after owning all 3 sets. If I was you just go ahead with the wide ovals.

Hope this helped!

You probibly had the older design Toyo right? The new T1-R is a all new tire and is nothing like the older design it came out only a year ago. I'll guarantee the Toyo has lots more traction than the wide oval and the cost is about the same and the treadwear is 280.

the wide ovals is the exact same tire as the bridgestone potenza 750's..but just cheaper on price...
