Default 17" 18" rims, will they fit?

I've just come across some corvette rims, fronts are 17 x 9.5 rears are 18 x 10.5 which i'm told are 1" wider than the stock corvette rims.

I know the standard corvette rims fit as i've seen quite a few of them on Firebirds, does anyone know if these will fit and what size tires i should use?

Thanks

Pete

Need to know the bolt pattern spacing to know if they will fit. You need 5x4.75 or 5x120mm which is the same thing. As far is the size of the rims go they will fit np.

As far as the size of the tires I would go with a 295/35r18 on the back which gives you a diameter of 26.1 and go with something a long the lines of a 265/40r17 for the front which gives you and overall diameter of 25.3

This way your sidewall height is almost the same for the fronts and the rears.

A lot of people on here will tell you to go with a wider rear tire but it looks like your gonna be running these on a V6 so there is no point for the extra tread and money spent on them IMO. And when you start getting into a wider tire you might run into some clearance issues too.

I have got 17x9.5s on my v6 bird and with 275/40r17s all the way around and have no issues

close... but not.

obviosly the vette wheels are 5x120.... but you need to know the BACKSPACING.

if the wheels have 3.5" backspacing.. not a chance. if they have 6.5" backspacing... maybe, but the rears will hit the fenders on big bumps.

if you cannot measure backspacing, you can check the rims for a stamped offset.... you'll need somewhere in the range of 58mm to have a prayer of the rears fitting.

I wasnt sure what the bolt pattern was on the vette wheels but yes another factor is the backspacing which i left out.

A lot of guys that run 17x11s on the rear only have trouble with inner fender rub with a 315 tire but the backspacing is like 7.5"

5x4.75 (also 5x120) is the bolt pattern for RWD GM vehicles from the 60s until the end of the F body.

the Backspacing for the 4th gen F body is extreme. the 93-02 F cars, 87 and newer Vettes share this backspacing with 4x4 S10 trucks/SUVs. this is good to know when shopping for wheels. this backspacing will be 6-7" depending on application. the smaller the number, the more the wheels stick out of the car.

all other RWD gm vehicles (including older vettes, F bodies & 2wd S10s) use a backspacing of 3-4" depending on application.

and to your reply... a 17x11 is one thing, and 18x10.5 is another. with correct backspacing it will be VERY tight.

learn something new everyday

yea i guess i was just thinkin about the overall diameter in terms of tire rub. With a 295/35r18 the overall is 26.1 a 285/35r18 is 25.9 and a 315/35r17 is 25.7 but then again every little bit counts in terms of clearance so

I just figured will a 7 inch backspacing on a 10.5 18" rim would stick out the same as a 11" wide rim with 7.5 backspacing.

so it would be tighter

They are 5 x 120, i'm just waiting to hear back on what the back spacing is, i think the corvette they were on origionally was a 2001. Soon as i find out i'll post the info. I'm assuming its the standard 6 to 7" of the corvette. Unfortunately the rims do not have tires on at the moment otherwise i could just try 'em for size.

Thanks so far for all the advice

Pete

Alright i have the same wheels and alot of people say i need the 58mm offset for the rears to fit. Well my rears happen to be 56mm! Will this make a huge difference?
