Question Is is a real PITA to keep TTII's clean on a dd???

Im looking a changing my wheels. Ive had the Z06's for a while and I think having a new set of wheels would make me fall in love with the car all over again

I love TTII's but I dont know about the maintenance that goes with them. Im a fanatic about keeping the car clean; she gets wash weekly. But I dont wanna polish these damn things after every storm or everytime I wash her. This car is my DD Opinions??

P.S. Trades Welcome

its not too bad. just every time you wash your car...make sure to dry off your wheels very well and that gets off brake dust and crap that stains the aluminum.
i DD TT II's as well
nice looking car btw!

I've been dd'ing mine for over a year, and I guess it is ok. i am a little tired of hand polishing them, that's why I got a powerball haha we 'll see how it does on them.

How long does it take to polish these things correctly? I might be moving near the coast; will these wheels rust or tarnish faster?

Best tip is to stay on top of it. Once you get behind and let **** build up on it you will get so frustrated with the damn things. The powerball helps but theres still a **** load of work to do by hand/microfiber towel

any polished wheel is a PITA to keep maintained on a daily driver. Water spots are the problem, as well as aluminum simply oxidizing. Keep them dry and clean, and keep a layer of automotive wax on them, it helps.

Would you be interested in trading for my black TTM's straight up. The maintenance on them is almost non-existent.

It's not to bad, really. It could be a lot worse. I give mine a quick once over every week when I wash my car and they still look new.

I wouldn't use that per say. I use some Meguiers Wheel cleaner, which works great, and a sponge. Then I dry them off with a microfiber towel and hit them with some spray wax.

Yeah, but would it hurt the finish? I thought of that too, but was hesitant.

Windex would maybe hurt the finish b/c of the ammonia in it... I figured invisible glass cleaner wouldnt hurt..

Im still on edge about getting these wheels.

You really have to love a set of wheels to get polished aluminum. If I want shiney I'll go chrome otherwise I just say no to polished. Having owned a few sets the upkeep gets overwhelming for DD'ing.

Thats funny man b/c Im really starting to like the smoothie II's!!!

Nineball was saying that polished wheels get water spots on them.

Thats why I was wondering if I could just use invisible glass cleaner to get that crap off..

You won't need invisible glass cleaner if your cleaning them anyways. Dude, trust me on this, I was hesitant just like you are, but I bought them anyways to see how it would go. So far, they aren't as bad as people make them out to be. If you wash your car regularly then you wont have to worry that much.

Like I said, I use Meguiers wheel cleaner on them with a nice hard, but not abrasive, sponge and they clean up perfectly. I have driven in the rain with them for days at a time and not wiped them. I have let them sit with brake dust on them for a whole week without washing and they still clean up PERFECTLY with barely any effort. Just go buy the Meguiers stuff get a nice sponge and you will be fine. TRUST ME.
