Default Best drag radial?

I cant decide between Nitto 555r's and MT ET streets.
Car will mostly be a DD, with some street/strip launch time.
Which tire holds up longer assuming driven equally, I know neither will last for a long time, but I need a good tire to launch with!

I have 8k on my nittos and they have around half tread left and around 10 track passes. If I take it easy on them I figure I could see 20K out of them, but they wont hook near as good as the M/T's. Since yours is a DD with over 400 rwhp why not get a decent street tire and a set of stock wheels with some hoosier dr, or some et streets or M/T dr's for the track?

Simple answer-money.
I have money for tires simply because I need a new set, but not for another set of wheels and tires

Agreed, while Nittos aren't good in the rain, the MT's are death in the wet.

Ask yourself how much you race, how important traction is, and how often you want to replace tires.

Your traction on the street and at the track will certainly be improved with the Nittos.

Personally, I think they are a great compromise for a street/strip car.

One comment: they definitely need to be warm to perform at their best. Hammering down on it while the tires are still pretty cool will result in wheelspin similar to your normal street tires.

i have 315 555r's. There definitly not what you want in the rain..But i drove them last night in the rain with no problems. Just realize your driving a DR in the rain. The have done an excellent job for me on the street. Im prolly at 340-350 rwhp(full bolt on a4). No strip passes yet with them but im enjoying them so far.

My Nitto 555Rs work great in the rain. Treadwear and price are the only reasons that I don't daily drive them.

Hey ZMONSTER, Nittos will work out well for you. Mine are the 315s and have about 6k miles on em and still dont spin when I get on it a little bit or around corners even with my 443rwhp. At the track they take longer to warm up than other DRs but still perform well. I got mine from Discount Tire Direct---> for around $338 for the pair shipped!

I have also driven in the rain with them and they hook pretty good, as long as you drive like you should drive in the rain...carefully.

Discount Tire Direct does indeed have the best price I could find, on both the tires and shipping.
