Default 18in VS. 19in Wheels-Ride Roughness

For those that have had both or driven cars with both 18's and 19's....How much harsher do the 19s ride over the 18inch wheels? I am not worried about the comfort for myself personaly but I just dont want to beat the car that much.

My old car (non fbody) had a rattling dash, along with everything else inside that was starting to loosen up and I really dont want that to happen to this car. It was all due to lowered suspension amongst other things.

anyone else? I heard one member in another thread mention he drove a car with 19's and it drove like a tank. Then shortly after, another guy claimed there is no noticeable difference.

Reason I ask is because im looking into purchasing HP Evo's or RPM 505s. It seems to me they just look better in 19's for some reason. I always thought 18's would be the best but now im not so sure....

It has a lot to do with the tire selection. You buy a shitty low cost tire, and you're going to get a shitty ride. If you want 19s, get them, just make sure you do you research when looking for a tire.

There are numerous luxury cars out there running 19s, and no one is complaining about the tires.

I have 19 inch RPM 505's on my f-body with nankang tires. I also have the Eibach Pro-kit on it. I really didn't notice that much of a difference from the stock 17's. It rode rough before and it still rides rough. I think that is due to shocks and not the tires.

How ruff we talking? I also have the eibach pro kit and wanting to go with 19's.
Will they vibrate my car apart lol? I mean it's a sports car i'm not wanting it to ride like a caddy. But I also don't want it to ride like a low rider.

with 19s you bill feel more of the road because you will most likely go with a shorter tire, if you have a 19 wheel with a 28" tire, it will be different than a 16 with a 28" tire. there is more rubber between the wheel and the ground the smaller you go. so yes, it will ride different but it depends on everything else, shocks, springs, tire, and all the other suspension

I was told by a wheel distributor that the tire makes no difference.Right or wrong? I want to go with 19's for the lip size.Whats the biggest profile I can go with on 19's 275/30 or maybe 275/35?

I would also like to know this as well. Whats the largest profile we can go with for 19's without looking stupid with too much profile?

im not positive on the tire size but twitchtwice said it best. the more sidewall you have, the more comfortable the ride pending on the actual construction of the tire. i have 275/40 on 17x9inch rims in the front and 295/35 18x10inch in the back with a 1.5 inch drop and it rides crappy over bumpy roads. its not bad over normal to somewhat beat up roads though. pending on the width of the rims you will probably have to go with 30 or 35 as your sidewall on 19s. granted its a ratio so a 275/30 is not the same as a 295/30. post up the rim width too.

There 19x9. I was told 275/30/19 but when I was looking at 20's they said I could run 265/30/20.Couldn't I do 275/35/19?
275/30/19 is 26.6 inches so I was told. How much taller would a 35 series be?

I'm running 19s and i have 275/35/19 out back and 245/35/19 up front. If you are thinking about going 275s all the way around, i'd get 30s up front and 35's out back. The ride is not much worse than with the 17s and i actually have better ground clearance because of the slightly taller tire in the rear. I am also lowered with the pro-kit. Personally, I would never go back to having 17s and i don't think i'd even go with 18s, especially with this style wheel.

KyleLS1-the car looks awsome bud! I plan on going with 19x9's all the way around. 275/30's seems like there is too little sidewall, now that i've seen your 35's I think thats what I may go with all around.
