1970 Chevy K10 Restomod Has Us Green with Envy: Track Time Tuesday
Gorgeous 1970 Chevy K10 has been treated to just the right amount of mods to make it perfection on wheels.
As vintage pickup trucks and SUVs continue to gain favor with collectors and enthusiasts alike, we’re also seeing more and more restorations and restomods. The This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, save for the fact that these trucks also command huge money at auction. That should also be the case with this gorgeous 1970 Chevy K10 up for grabs at Bring-a-Trailer, a restomodded classic that looks absolutely amazing and features modern mechanicals yet retains every bit of the retro goodness that makes these trucks so universally loved.
On the outside, a fresh Medium Olive paint job that was just applied last year gives this 1970 Chevy K10 a truly old-school look, and it’s accented perfectly by a white roof and lower body surfaces. All of the original chrome trim is present and accounted for, and all of the glass, seals, and weatherstripping have been replaced as well.
This vintage K10 rolls on a set of equally vintage 16-inch white steel wheels, which are wrapped in modern 37×12.5-inch BFGoodrich Baja T/A tires. Power front disc brakes help slow it down a bit quicker, while manually locking front hubs are ready for any off-roading the new owner might want to do, though we doubt that will be happening given this truck’s polished jewel-like finish.
The retro theme continues inside with a simple black and body-color interior with a bench seat and a two-spoke steering wheel. For some odd reason, the seller hasn’t bothered to hook up the heat or air conditioning, so that will need to be sorted (arguably a pretty important fix, considering where Regardless, the cabin is pretty much all original and tidy in appearance.
Under the hood, you’ll find a replacement 350 V8 that’s been fitted with a few simple mods including an Edelbrock carb, headers, and dual exhaust. It’s mated to a 700R4 automatic transmission and two-speed transfer case, which sends power to a Dana 60 front end with a cross-over steering conversion and a 14-bolt GM eight-lug rear diff fitted with a Detroit Locker.
The previous owner of this beautiful Bow Tie didn’t go to any extremes with this build and instead chose to keep it simple and classy. To us, it’s pretty much perfect, and a fine example of what the right mods can do for an old truck.
