2001 Camaro Z28

Built 2001 Camaro Z28 listing doesn’t include power numbers or track times, but it looks like a great car for the price.

The fourth generation Chevrolet Camaro was a hot seller when it was new because it offered incredible performance numbers for the price. Almost two decades later, many people look for LS1-era cars because they are fun to drive when stock, but they respond so well to upgrades and the aftermarket is practically unlimited.

Unfortunately, not everyone who wants a built fourth generation Camaro with a stroker motor knows how to build one themselves, nor do they know where to go to pay someone to build a solid LS1 car. Fortunately, the LS1Tech Marketplace is chock-full of built fourth generation cars looking for new homes, including this 2001 Z28 that was posted for sale by “neblackshirts”.

2001 Z28

The Introduction

When the OP listed his 2001 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 for sale, he included a ton of information on the car’s background along with explaining why he is selling and pointing out all of the problems with the vehicle.

Clean Z06 or something else can kick in cash for right deal. If you’ve priced out parts and labor you know how much builds run. A lot of car for the money!!

Car has been tuned by Chad owner of The Shop Inc. here in Lincoln, NE and with how big the cam is car drives really well. Just had Chad go through car this week and was completely serviced ready to go. He also took off torque management as it was kicking in on the 2nd to 3rd shift. 12-bolt is noisy as a lot are but Chad went through it and rebuilt it a few years ago when I had the transmission rebuilt due to a broken reverse sprag.

But as with the nature of this hobby race cars need attention and break so understand that. This car with the cam and cut-out opened gets lots of attentions on cruise nights!!!

Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask!! Sorry but $9,000 won’t buy this car but I consider myself to be real and understand this isn’t a $15,000 car either. I’ve put thousands into it and that’s just how this hobby goes but I just don’t have the time for a drag setup car as kids, wife, and work have me very limited on tinkering time.

Has no dash cracks and leather is in good condition and has no roll cage as wanted to keep it clecleann and cruise with family. Has been dyno’d on Chad’s Heartbreaker “Mustang Dyno” and pulls hard up top with the heads and cam.

Does have few scratches and chips and the dreaded pimpled sail panel. It is an ‘01 so it’s not showroom perfect, but do think it’s probably local car show/club good just not world of wheels perfect.

Has a clean Nebraska title in hand car is ready for race/street season!!!

2001 Camaro Z28

That certainly isn’t the most flattering introduction in a for sale listing, but at least the seller is being brutally honest. We don’t get any track times or dyno numbers, which is a bit on the weird side for a car that is being sold as a track-ready car, but the details make this Camaro Z28 very appealing.

The Built Camaro

In addition to all of that information above, the OP also included two brief mod lists, quickly explaining what has been done to the engine and drivetrain.

Based strictly on the mod list and the information above, this 2001 Camaro Z28 sounds like it has been built to perform and in the video below, it sounds good on the dyno.

The video doesn’t include any dyno numbers either, so we don’t know exactly how well this fourth gen Chevy muscle car runs, but for $13,000, it might be worth a shot. Even if it needs some tuning tweaks, that is a nice price for a car with the components listed above.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
