There’s a reason the new Z/28 sports an LS7, massive carbon-ceramic rotors with Brembo calipers, crazy spool-valve suspension and sticky Pirelli tires on all corners … to whoop ass! Whose ass? Anything in its path, even if that happens to be a Nissan GT-R Track Edition and a Porsche 911 Turbo S.

That’s right, in the latest issue of Motor Trend Magazine, the editors pit the new Camaro Z/28 against Godzilla, the Nissan GT-R Track Edition and the almighty Porsche 911 Turbo S on the street and at Barber Motorsports Park. You’re going to have to read the full story here, but for those who prefer to watch the action, have a look at the video below.

For those who also want the nitty gritty beforehand spoiler alert, here’s the damage:

The Z/28 runs 0-60 in 4.0 seconds to the GT-R’s AWD-assisted (and equally insane) 2.7 second sprint. The Camaro runs the 1320 in 12.3 seconds at 117 mph, while the GT-R runs it in 11.0 seconds at 125 mph. As for braking, while the GT-R just beats the Z/28 with a distance of 94 feet to the Camaro’s 97 feet, the Camaro’s brakes are far superior in feel, power and fade-free operation — the Nissan’s work well once, but they can’t compare to the Camaro’s on track after repetitive stops.

As for the damage, well, the GT-R Track Editon lapped Barber in 1.36.45 to the Z/28’s 1.36.17.

BOOM! There you have it. No AWD, no turbos, no twin-clutch, just a well-engineered, front-engine, rear drive, American V8 sports car that brings the whoopin’ at a fraction of the price. In fact, the people of MT were surprised to conclude that the Z/28 was the driver’s car of the comparo. I believe the appropriate question is, how do you like them apples?
