From Beater to Masterpiece: A 1969 Chevrolet Camaro
The ’69 Camaro is a hard car to come by. It’s been over forty-five years since they first roamed the streets, so it should come as no surprise that very few remain. Some probably totaled the iconic muscle car when it first came out, having been just a bit too giddy about its horsepower and oh-so-fun rear wheel drive.
Other probably enjoyed it for a time and then set it aside, planning to come back to it in the future but never truly did. Others were probably wrecked and never drove the same, only to be sent to be crushed before anyone truly understood their true worth. Whatever the reason, the ’69 Camaro is a rarity.
That truth makes this story all the more pleasing.
RK Motors got their hands on this beautiful 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. Not an SS or an RS, and certainly not a Z28, just a magnificent ’69.
They did a frame build of the glorious machine, but they did more than just rejuvenate the classic — they also modernized it.
The ride sports a 6.2L LS3 engine, a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission, a Moser 12-bolt rear axle with 3.55 gears, RideTech Level II suspension, power steering, Wilwood power disc brakes, 18″ Boze Lateral G wheels, vintage air conditioning, a customized interiors with a modern audio system, and a modified body.
Despite all of the changes, this classic stays true to its muscle car roots, putting out 480 horsepower and delivering 475 lb./ft. of torque!
Whether or not you love it or hate it to see a classic changed, one simply can’t deny that this Camaro is a masterpiece.
Not only is it loud and proud, but it is also just a bit more comfortable and enjoying to ride it. Not to mention it is extremely powerful!
