Blackwing Pair Last Cadillac Performance Models to Burn Fuel
Limited-edition CT4-V, CT5-V Blackwing models include standard six-speed manual, most track-focused Cadillac models ever built.
Blackwing. The name given to a hand-built V8 originally for the Cadillac CT6-V Blackwing. Now, the name exists upon two Cadillac V models in limited-edition form. The hand-built V8, dubbed the LT4, resides to the CT5-V Blackwing. Meanwhile, the CT4-V Blackwing receives a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6.
Monday evening, both machines spread their black wings over the world for the first time. Alas, once these rides are spoken for, their likes will never be seen again. According to Corvette Forum, The Blackwing duo are the last high-performance Caddys that will ever burn fuel to set the road on fire.
“As the ultimate performance versions of our V-Series lineup, the prime directive for their designs was to maintain authenticity and integrity, while also raising the bar,” said Cadillac Design global executive director Andrew Smith. “Everything new and unique on these vehicles was only included if it served a functional purpose, while simultaneously creating a powerful signature look.”
Though the V-Series’ next move is full electrification — part of GM’s overall EV 2035 roadmap, as we reported recently — the Blackwing pair is quite the way to end the era of gas-drinking, fire-breathing monsters.
First of all, the Blackwing pair offers a six-speed manual standard, with an optional 10-speed auto for total drag-strip domination. On the highway or the track, MagRide 4.0 offers tons of flexibility wherever you are. Then, there’s the power. The CT4-V Blackwing packs 427 horses and 450 lb-ft of torque, while the CT5-V Blackwing delivers the killing blow with 668 ponies and 659 lb-ft of torque. Throw in some big brakes, electronic limited-slip diffs, and lots of cooling, and you have a recipe for cooking the competition like extra-crispy fried chicken.
Of course, there is a hefty price of admission to bring one of these birds home. The CT4-V Blackwing begins at a little under $60,000. Meanwhile, the CT5-V Blackwing can be had starting at under $85,000. Either way, just 250 of each will leave the factory. Then, the smell of gasoline shall drift away, replaced by the scent of lightning in the air. Head over to Corvette Forum to read the full story of these birds.
