C6 Corvette Is an Ideal Budget Build in Waiting
Corvette needs some body work, a new transmission and a whole lot of elbow grease, but you can buy it cheap.
The C6 Corvette has become the sports car for the masses since the C7 hit the market and with the pending arrival of the C8 driving down prices of the C7, the C6 will become even more affordable. However, for many people, a nice, clean C6 is still too expensive, but the Corvette listed for sale in the LS1Tech Marketplace by yevgenievich could be the perfect car for someone looking to buy an LS car on a tight budget.
Mind you, it needs a new transmission and a ton of love inside and out, but based on current market values, this C6 could prove to be a great deal for someone who is looking for a fixer-upper to drive, race or flip.
Corvette Sale Introduction
When the OP posted this 2008 Chevrolet Corvette for sale, he included the following information which briefly details why this C6 is listed for just $10,500.
“Yellow c6. Rebuilt title, currently registered with valid inspection. Blew clutch and possibly trans. Selling either as a roller or complete with low miles trans/diff(13 z06) and a new clutch included. Rear passenger quarter panel area was destroyed in a previous accident that caused a rebuilt title.
Roller with no motor – $6300
As is without the z06 trans/diff and clutch – $9000
Or as is with the included parts – $10500
Also have a really nice set of c7 wheels for $400
Also have another set of c6 wheels with good tires for $400″
So, if you don’t want the engine or transmission, you can buy this C6 for just $6,300, while getting the car with the motor and the broken transmission will cost you $9,000. If you are looking to spend $10,500, you can get the Z06 transmission as well, so with some time and effort, you could get this Corvette back on the road.
It Needs Some Serious Love
The seller also included 10 pictures, many of which show that this Corvette is pretty rough inside and out for a car of this age. While the rear quarter panel that had been “destroyed” has been repaired, the fitment of the front fascia suggest that it might not have just been the rear end that has made contact with a foreign object. On the passenger’s side, there is a huge gap to the fender and on the driver’s side, the fender appears to stick out away from the fascia.
The interior of this Corvette isn’t much better, as the entire cabin is filthy and the leather is in terrible shape.
Even the engine bay looks terrible, with loads of dirt built up everywhere, which is accentuated by the yellow painted engine covers that are caked in dirt. Frankly, it doesn’t look like this C6 has been properly taken care of in many years, so someone looking to save a Corvette from a life of neglect may want to jump on this project. It really makes you wonder why the seller didn’t bother to at least try to clean it up a little, but maybe the general disinterest in the vehicle means that there is wiggle room on the pricing.
According to Kelley Blue Book, a 2008 Corvette in “fair” condition, which is their lowest grade, has a private party value of around $15,000. With this car being listed for $10,500 with the replacement transmission, someone with mechanical abilities could buy it and get it on the road for well under that KBB number. Clean up the interior, straighten out the body and shine up the engine bay after the transmission is replaced and this C6 will be worth far more than the current list price, so if you are into flipping cars, this could be a solid deal and if you are looking for a C6 project car on a budget, this yellow Corvette might be worth a moment of your time.
