Cadillac Offers Steep Discount on 2019 CT6s

GM is offering either $4,000 cash or 0% financing on top of a $2,500 loyalty offer to anybody currently in a Cadillac.

Maybe it’s the times that we live in, but we almost feel trained to wait for the other shoe to drop. That’s why we like stories where there really isn’t much of a downside. Like this: The CT6, Cadillac’s criminally underrated and perpetually-besieged flagship sedan is surviving into 2020. What’s more, you can pick one up a new one at a pretty substantial discount right now.

Caddy is moving the CT6 line upmarket to ring in the new decade. If there is a downside here, it’s that you’ll be paying more for one very soon. But if you’re itching for a ’19 model, according to Motor Authority:

“GM is offering either $4,000 in total cash or 0% financing alongside a $2,500 ownership loyalty offer to anybody who currently owns or leases a Cadillac. Those who want to lease a CT6 can take advantage of a $1,000 offer if they currently lease a Cadillac.”

The move will save new CT6 owners a ton of cash. For 2020, the 2.0-liter turbo version will be history. The mid-level Luxury model will now be at the bottom of the range, but see a substantial price hike to a $59,990 MSRP.

More money, more changes.

CT6

The CT6 Premium Luxury model base price inflates to a pricy $75,490 but will now offer GM’s cutting-edge Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system and 34-speaker Bose Panaray surround-sound stereo standard, along with a host of other former options. The fire-breathing, twin-turbocharged 550-horsepower CT6-V remains at the top of the heap.

Introduced in 2016, the CT6 was introduced as Cadillac’s world-beater, it’s return to the Standard of Excellence. But the big car has failed to live up to sales expectations, especially as the brand’s crossover and SUV offerings outsell its sedans by a wide margin. Nonetheless, the CT6 is still the brand’s de-facto flagship, showcasing innovations like Super Cruise and the brand-exclusive 4.2-liter Blackwing V8.

CT6

With the impending closure of the CT6’s Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly and no new plant assignment announced, the Caddy could still be on thin ice. But the amount of effort Cadillac is taking to reshuffle and improve the lineup is a hopeful sign that the car still has a future. Plus, the more CTS-Vs make it into the world before the curtain comes down, the better.
