The Cadillac CTS-V is the most powerful Cadillac the company has ever built. Using the same LT4 V8 engine sourced from the manic Corvette Z06, the Cadillac CTS-V puts down 640 horsepower, and 640 lb-ft of torque.

It’s a blisteringly fast machine, and one that will light your hair on fire while comfortably bathing you in luxury. However, the Cadillac isn’t seen as the most powerful sedan in the world, that title goes to the Charger Hellcat. Or at least it will, for now.

According to inside sources at Cadillac, the CTS-V won’t stay at that 640 horsepower for very long. Cadillac is said to be working on an even more powerful version of the super sedan that would boast not just a little bit more horsepower, but possibly well past the 700 horsepower range.

While these engine changes wouldn’t likely be seen until the mid-cycle refresh due out in 2018, we just hope that Cadillac and Chevy figure out the overheating issues that revolve around the LT4 platform by then. We’d actually love to see the CTS-V go twin-turbocharged.

What do you all think? Are you ready for an even more powerful Cadillac CTS-V?
