Camaro Shock and Steel Special Edition

Whether you like your Camaro to blend in or stand out, a new appearance package gives us a couple of new choices.

Special editions are the lifeblood of any good automotive model. And that includes the Camaro, which has enjoyed its fair share of unique offerings over the years. The latest of which appears to be something called the Shock and Steel Edition, though it hasn’t officially been announced. In fact, it took Muscle Cars and Trucks quite a bit of digging to discover it. A few months back, they caught the first whiff of this new Camaro offering via GM’s Fleet Order Guide. And now, you can actually configure your Shock and/or Steel Camaro via Chevy’s Canadian online configurator.

So what, exactly, does this new special edition consist of, you ask? Well, it’s essentially an appearance package, as you might imagine. For starters, you get your choice of two exterior colors – Shock or Satin Steel Gray Metallic. Both are available with Carbon Flash side mirrors and 20-inch 5-spoke aluminum wheels.

Apparently, the Shock color cars will come with a silver center stripe, while the Satin Steel cars will feature a Shock-colored stripe, though this doesn’t show up on the configurator as of yet. Both cars also come with a body-colored rear spoiler.

Other unique touches include a black fuel door with carbon fiber insert and yellow Brembo brake calipers. On the inside, you’ll find a carbon fiber instrument panel trim, premium carpet, and black suede knee pads. While the Shock and Steel Camaro doesn’t receive any sort of performance bump, it is available in a variety of trim levels. That includes 2LT and 3LT, 2SS, and as a coupe or convertible.

Ultimately, this new package is just another nice way to differentiate your Camaro from the masses. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Personally, we’d opt for the more subtle Stain Steel hue here, not the retina-searing Shock. But we’re more about blending in than standing out, mind you. In the meantime, while we await an official announcement or reveal, you can head over here and build your own ultimate version of the 2020 Camaro.
